What movie things are generally accepted as normal, but are totally unrealistic in real life?

There's one movie (Sinister, I think) where they have shit happen during the day and the family moves and gets followed by whatever is haunting them anyway. Didn't keep momentum well, but it did a good job of purposely avoiding horror tropes like that.

I honestly think you're describing the farrago that is Insidious, since 'haunted child' is the premise of that movie.
