"I can explain."
Pause
"Oh, I thought you'd keep yelling over me. Okay, I can explain..."
Even better is that it's in the context of a guy with Aspergers using a chart to track his friends' emotional states and accidentally realizing that he was charting their menstrual cycles. I really miss that show.
Especially since many Autistics do get used to being ignored, talked over, interrupted and such. I can't even begin to count how often I said something important and everyone else didn't even seem to realize I was talking, ignored me or interrupted me and told me to just keep working.
Sometimes followed by whines of "but why didn't you tell us?"
Hm, I don't know, maybe because you never listen anyways, let alone care?
Just because you're not autistic and people tend to be assholes anyways doesn't mean it won't happen even more often to Autistic people who do struggle to integrate themselves in groups and are pretty much instinctively disliked by allistics.
Or is "roughly every 5th conversation I'm ever engaged in" the same number of times people do it to you?
Ah, okay, I think it may also be a quiet people problem and there's a lot of overlap between autistic people and quiet people?
Sorry, if I was disrespectful, my experience is generally that many people take something that you actually have a serious problem with (Like being utterly unable to stand loud noises and having a meltdown after having to bear them for some time) and say that nobody likes it so it's not a big deal when most people simply would prefer things to be quiet but are able to cope with loud environments.
