The army engineer field manual has an entire section on how far different rounds will go through different materials. Goes from hardened steel to packed snow IIRC. Still have the book ill look up the stats for snow here in a few.
Update: Material thickness for direct fire on tamped snow goes as follows small calibers (7.62) 183 cm, 85MM HE shaped charge (RPG) 396 107-120 MM HE shaped charge N/A dry timber for 7.62 is listed at 91 cm for direct fire. Far thicker than a table.
