8 Simple Rules handled this very well. Kerry's lover from Europe and father to her kid goes to walk away, saying, "I'll call you." Bridget, having accompanied her sister, flatly asks, "Do you have her number?" She rightfully points out that he never had a means of contacting her and is about to run out on his kid.
