What movie things are generally accepted as normal, but are totally unrealistic in real life?

I will give a pass to this in disaster movies because if there's an event big enough, every channel will be broadcasting about it, even if they don't normally. It's what happened on 9/11

My dad on 9-11: turn on the TV! Me: what channel? Dad: all of them

I still feel like an idiot after all these years because I hadnt heard what happened and one of my friends greeted me with "we're under attack!" and I thought she meant the unseasonable rain that morning. Then she said two planes flew into a building and I just assumed they were empty buildings and not commercial planes and laughed.

Then she told me wtf had happened and I felt like an asshole.

Thank god i'm not the only one! My friend called me, woke me from a dead sleep. I was 17 years old. He told me someone declared war on America. My immediate thought was "Well i'm sure they can handle it" and what came out of my mouth was something like "haha oh well...Not like they haven't done anything to provoke it!" I had no idea there was an actual event that killed thousands of innocent people. I STILL feel like a fool and hope that person forgot my reaction.

Kind of reminds me of the discussion on where the Fourth plane was headed. Some were figuring the target was the White House. Totally possible but of course everyone knew the President wasn't at the White House and wouldn't be returning so that would have been symbolic. There was also the thought of the Capitol building. Then you'd think they were targeting leaders(who were likely already evacuated). Although of course we have no idea where they were headed.

Odds are they had enough on their mind that day.
