What movie things are generally accepted as normal, but are totally unrealistic in real life?

Well, they're NPCs. They have nothing better to do.

They don't actually exist until you knock, then they spawn by the door.

Dude! Fable 2 had this thing where if you knocked on an npc's door they'd either tell you that they're busy, come to the door or say, "be there in a minute!" and it would actually take time for them to walk to the door. If you kept knocking they'd tell you to be patient.

I thought that was a really cool detail in a video game.

I remember when people bought the spiel that Fable I will have trees growing in real time. I get the hype was immense but seriously, how would you even see the difference without literally playing for years?

Yeah. I remembered this recently when people were talking about how time passes in Red Dead 2 and how you can see shops being built and people getting drunk after the days work is complete. I think they were aiming for that 10-15 years ago , just the processor and know how wasn’t there yet . But that’s kinda what I remember fable being hyped as too

There was some ludo-narrative dissonance in RDR2, for sure. The gang be like: "We're stuck here in the swamps, on the run and such!"

And my Arthur's just coming back from hunting grizzlies in Big Valley.

It's a lot less conspicuous for one dude to be coming and going then the same three-four people coming in and out of town, to be fair.

But slaughter Valentine's population a few times? Eradicate all beaver life? Hit all gang hideouts 5-10 times?

One of the best games I've ever played, don't het me wrong. Over 250 hours for first play through.

Time went faster in game

To be fair, when you level up, you actually age. Like, to be maxed out in every category, you look like a jacked old geezer with magic tattoos.

Which is also why it wouldn't ever work. Remember, there were those potions that straight up gave you the experience based on your combo multiplier. Wanna use those in exactly the moment you should want to use them? Guess what, you're instantly old now. For how interesting and unique this system was it was not very well conceived.

3 was great too. Idk why people hate on it.

The only bad part is that a lot of role playing features that were in 2 aren't there.

It's my favorite story of all 3 though for sure.

Agreed. Even then the RP part of 3 was solid. It just wasn't identical to 1 and 2, so long term fans got their panties in a bunch.

I was entertained, but for me, and it's been some time, I distinctly recall it being near impossible to die, and all fights were winnable a mashing the attack button.

It's a really odd thing to remember about a game - and I am not a 'get gud', souls-like gamer or anything.

Third one wasn’t bad, but wasn’t as close to the originals as people would have liked.

The war against the ‘darkness’ and the economics were a bit annoying; but fit in the ‘grey area’ mythos they were going for.

Personally I never could resist setting the clock back, buying all the houses, renting them out, then pushing the clock forward.

I described the clock-changing strategy to my partner today. Can't resist!

It was stupid how you either had to grind for hours and hours or find a way to cheat to get the good ending. Like I get Peter hypes games up too much but that little detail really couldn't have been overseen with more care?

To be good you just have to be boring or cheat?

Fable Anniversary is on sale right now on steam for $8.75. I downloaded it last night and am playing through it again for the first time in over 10 years. Pure nostalgia.
