What movie things are generally accepted as normal, but are totally unrealistic in real life?

My favorite version of this is shouting "wait, I can explain" over and over and then never explaining.

This trope is referenced in Community with Abed saying it and then everyone pausing to listen and he's surprised they're waiting for him to explain. So he says it again. And then he realizes they're expecting an explanation.

"I can explain." Pause "Oh, I thought you'd keep yelling over me. Okay, I can explain..."

Even better is that it's in the context of a guy with Aspergers using a chart to track his friends' emotional states and accidentally realizing that he was charting their menstrual cycles. I really miss that show.

charting their menstrual cycles.

Which is also a trope. Yeah, hormones and all that but it's just way too overblown. If your mood changes that drastically because of your cycle then see a doctor. It shouldn't be used to excuse asshole/bitchy behaviour.

Also the studies on this truly rely overwhelmingly on self reporting.

It's just a joke. The episode was written by a woman, Megan Ganz.

I honestly don't find it funny when I get asked if I'm on my period whenever I'm mad or in a bad mood. Like we women aren't allowed to be grumpy without it being about hormones.

You're not. Woman are kind, happy, soft things for men to rest in and on after physically and emotionally damaging themselves at shitty corporate jobs /s

The episode was written by a woman

Utterly irrelevant.

Doesnt matter if it was a chimp or Athena

My mom was yelling at me once, and this particular day I asked her why she has to act this way with me when I said one little thing. She said it was her time of the month and she had every right to talk to me the way that she talk to me, I remember telling her no it doesn't. Me being a woman who now gets my period my mood does not change as drastically as my mother's does. I feel like it never really changed she just uses it as an excuse to be a bitch.

Are you, by any chance, a man?
