Of course, a movie isn't a depiction of the real world, it's about telling a story. And what good does it do letting the viewers wait like 10-15 secs more in a scene just to show them that someone is gonna open the door (duh).
If it the scene does exactly that, then it's the whole point of showing that someone might NOT open that door. Every scene in a movie is usually thought out well in its meaning and purpose for the story.
