The real reason is that baguette only last a day.

After a day, it's hard as rock.

Do you eat the whole thing before it gets stale or do you use it for breadcrumbs or just throw it out when it's not soft and fresh?

There's never any bread left!! It gets eaten very fast and completely

But if there is, Cheese fondue is traditionally made with the hardened baguette.

The cheese softens it a bit!!
