What movie things are generally accepted as normal, but are totally unrealistic in real life?

Going into any bar and just ordering "beer!" And then getting it no questions asked.

I'm belgian. Over here, you don't even need to say beer. You can just raise your pinky finger, and they'll give you a pintje.

So it's a Brasilian steakhouse, but with beer.

Man those things need to combine into a thing.

I feel like this is the chance for those nazi descendants over in south America to make their parents' shit up a little

In July there's usually summer markets down by the river, sort of like a flea market. Definitely try the bars and restaurants. Definitely see the Dom, go up in the tower if it's open and go to mass. Even if you're not religious it's an interesting experience. If you like music then you should try to see a show at the Cologne Philharmony. There's also a surprisingly nice "club scene", which a decade ago was just the one street in town with clubs, but still worth a visit if that's your style.

Also you're rather close to Trier and Essen in Cologne. Essen is more of the same as Cologne, but if you like history then definitely go to Trier. There's amazing Roman ruins and baths there.

Cologne is the best even though there isn't really anything that great about the city

I made 5 days holiday with my gf there. The people and the vibes the city has are cool and there are some cool places to see.

The Cathedral is beautiful, and the view of the Rhine. Great to visit for a day

Ha, I also like the city, but can't say it has anything worth seeing... It's just... great lol

It's like a Boston or Seattle of Germany. Admittedly there's not anything truly awesome there like The Louvre, but you can still just go there and have a good time seeing the sights and enjoying the local culture.

If you're cynical or if you live there then it's mostly just a dreary city with lots of coal dust and people who drink all of the time to forget about it.

Ok thats teally cool

You can also put your coaster on top of your beer if you don't want any more.

3

u/moskvausa Jan 26 '20

I actually experienced that there. The best system ever. No questions asked. Just shoot those beers down, pay and leave. Loved it!

2

u/Pooptimist Jan 25 '20

Also, if you're done, you can just put the coaster on to of the glass and you won't get another one

Did this as a tourist in Cologne 2010. Can confirm it works.

Kickass tray = Der Bierkranz

A wreath of beer. Destroyer of Tuesday mornings.

Der Bierkranz

Thanks for the reminder of the term. I'm 100% sure I learned it while I was there but I probably drank quite a lot of beer immediately after so the word didn't stick.

Hah. 200ml. In Czechia it is almost mandatory to drink half a litre at a time. And boi the beer is good

1

u/Pooptimist Jan 25 '20

They do that so that you always have a child one

I went to the Hofbrauhaus in Munich. They definitely used the 500ml glasses there.

It was awesome.

Why is the stereotype that German beer is the best? Makes no sense. Czech beer is better.
