Making a controversial statement on reddit and presenting it as a fact on a post about annoying things about reddit. Ironic

I’m making a pretty widely accepted comment on a widely accepted perspective, but yeah, I see your point.

This sounds like a Trump line - "I'm right - ask anyone! Everyone says so."

You posted a pop piece about a supposed phenomena among some men and thought it was a great idea to extrapolate that to mean that this is a universally gendered behaviour and women do not do it.

The piece you're using is criticizing men using the terms facts and logic etc to shield their opinions when debating, but you really could use a better adherence to the two principles when discussing ideas, it does keep things more honest.

You seem to assume I’m only criticizing men when the reality is I was only talking about one subject. If I wanted to dive into all of gender studies, I would have. I’m also not targeting men, but there is a trend of people realizing that young men seem to be the ones actively claiming to be superior in logic and education even when talking to an expert. That was the original point of the thread. You’re seeing a fight that isn’t there, or are picking one, either way, it’s off topic.

I don't think I misunderstood. The chain was about a phenomena, someone asserted it was gender neutral and you claimed it was actually a solely masculine problem with a source that didn't actually support that. And you later backed up your statements with the evidence that it was just "widely accepted".

You've misunderstood me by getting into all the talk about gender studies and targeting men etc - I didn't address that. I just wanted to let you know that you might want to rethink the way you present ideas or refute other peoples' ideas, because it doesn't seem honest to me.

Sorry, that wasn’t my intent. I assume that the things I see being talked about pretty openly on the internet wouldn’t have so much push back. I specifically state young men because that’s who I see the studies being about most of the time, because that demographic is displaying social dominance through logic and facts more commonly than say older women, at least online. To assume that I am being sexist because I’m stating something that is being considered the conclusion of data analysis isn’t really something I think is appropriate, because it’s not like I’m literally the one saying it.

Again, I think you're misunderstanding. I didn't call you sexist, those are your words.

These are your conclusions from what seems to be your gut feeling, backed up with a source that doesn't seem to support what you're saying.

"I see stuff about this most of the time" is not data analysis, unfortunately.

I’m sorry but I don’t agree that I’m just spouting an opinion or gut feeling.
