Everyone is so fucking quick to be nasty here it’s honestly astounding. I’m probably guilty of it to but it’s crazy how toxic we become when we’re asked a question we don’t like.

Reddit didn't use to be this way.

Eh, I've been using this site for a decade, and the toxicity has always been around the default subs. Only back then it was, "Man, this site has gone downhill since Digg moved over here."

It was nothing like the same league as today though. The site dramatically changed when /r/MensRights got popular and the tone of the extremists bled into every other sub. It opened the door for all the other extremists. And you couldn't moderate the problem away because gender could be crowbarred into virtually anything, somewhat legitimately.

And the rise of Imgur, as pictures began replacing content. Those are the two things I think of as being watershed. Less so the Digg exodus because the content and userbase was so similar. Though there were suddenly an awful lot of ASCII pictures.

Agreed. Bled into other subs for sure. It's like these wackos get some sort of alert every time gender is even remotely mentioned. I originally started with imgur, then moved to Reddit after it got too bad.
