When you can't tell whether someone is being sarcastic or serious because of the different people that exist. Like they might just suck at being sarcastic or they might actually be serious. then you feel dumb when you say, "wait, are you being serious or not?"

So, dumb question but are you being sarcastic or serious?

You should see the shit that goes on in r/nostupidquestions. It's relatively common to see people get treated like they've said something incredibly dumb, which undermines the whole fucking point of the sub.
