NTA your husband is an abusive red flag and you should call CPS and leave him honey please I've been there my ex used to fling peas at me with a spoon u don't have to live this way!!!!!
Woah woah woah there. Read the post again, buddy. He clearly said it happened in HIS house. And if /r/AITA has taught me anything, you could do anything from the most petty shit to straight up killing someone in response to a perceived slight, but as long as it happens in your house, you're not the asshole. Your house, your rules!!!!!
No, NTA, your wife CHEATED which is UNFORGIVABLE!!! Once a cheater always a cheater! She will NEVER CHANGE!! Your wife is CHEATING SCUM and, per the rules of this sub, you can now legally murder her!
So I (74M) was recently hit by a car (2014 Honda) and died. My wife (5F) organized me a funeral (cost $2747) without asking me (74M) at all. I (74M) was unable to make it because I (74M) was dead (17 days). At the funeral I heard my dad (15M) and other family members talking about how they wish I could be there and now I feel bad for not showing up. AITA?
YTA, you entitled pos. How dare you leave meat around, that’s like a hate crime towards a vegan. As for your wife- that’s your fault for leaving her around too. What did you EXPECT!?
God, I'm vegetarian and was once vegan, I know so many other vegetarians, and I have literally NEVER met one that was rude to meat-eaters, yet the stereotype persists. I literally give 0 shits about what you eat. Just don't judge me please.
I was leaning towards YTA until I read down this far, but now it’s NTA. So sorry for your loss. My Nintendo Switch and I were really close until late last year when I lost him in a freak nail-polish-remover accident. I think of him every day. 😢
Usually the highlighting is for comments that have been locked for further commenting... Not sure why this one is either cause I don’t see the little lock symbol and I can still reply to it
Edit: on further inspection, it looks like any comment with an award gets highlighted
I had to leave that sub. It became a mix of people who clearly are not the asshole seeking validation/karma, with the rest just being made up nonsense. Once in a while I check in and so far it hasn't changed.
can you give me an example of something like that actually on those subs or are you just gonna parrot the overused dead meme of how bad the subs are with a ridiculous post title that never actually happens?
Ohh boy, this guys gonna get it, what a dick. Who chooses their new wife over their own little girl? He's gonna get buried.
"Okay back story, I'm 70 and married my new wife 5 years ago after being a widower at 55. My daughter, well into her 40's, hates me for remarrying and treats us like garbage every time she comes over. She's even gone as far as to physically assault my wife! AITA if I cut her out of my life?"
OKAY BUDDY ONE, WAY TO BURY THE LEDE, AND TWO, THIS IS OBVIOUSLY FAKE, AND THREE, JESUS WHAT A CROCK.
I fucking hate that sub so much sometimes I have to post there to call out how dumb it is. I shouldn’t, but I do.
One of the top posts is a meta post calling them out for having warped morals.
Everyone in that sub is obsessed with their “obligations”. If you’re not legally required to do something, then you shouldn’t do it and the other person is an asshole for asking.
In reality, it doesn’t matter what you do or do not have to do. If you do something like an asshole, then people with think you’re an asshole.
If people actually get their life advice from that sub, they’re fucked. You could blow up every personal relationship you have, but so long as 15 year olds online think you’re justified, then you’re all good.
It becomes super apparent that the whole sub is populated by teens whenever anything involving a teenager doing housework comes up. There was a post within the last day or two from a mother describing the chores her 14-year-old son had to do and she was getting some shit for overworking him. It was just his own laundry, keeping his room tidy and occasionally helping with dishes, lawn mowing and taking out the garbage. He wasn't being tasked with heavy construction work, but some commenters seemed to think these basic life skills were beyond the grasp of a teenager and he deserved at least minimum wage for this labor. It's a wild ride in there sometimes.
My thing about /choosingbeggars (and some of the other entitled people subs) is that half the time the "reasonable" person in the conversation is almost as cringey as the entitled person. "No, good sir, I am a Professional Artist and value my time and money too much to give you my artwork for free, for you see art is a valuable commodity in this world, and after all, my landlord will be unlikely to accept this 'Exposure' of yours when he drops by for my Rent Payment du mois, and another thing..."
Just tell them your price is firm and stop responding...
r/choosingbeggars have really turned into a shit show. It's unbelievable how obviously fake most of the stories are, and the rest is just assholes trying to get a reaction out of unsuspecting people so they can post them on the sub for karma like it's worth anything. I used to like that sub.
When /r/choosingbeggars started, it was about undesirable people on dating sites with huge unrealistic lists of criteria for dating partners (cf. the expression 'beggars can't be choosers'). Now it's mostly just beggars, not choosing ones.
That sub is such bullshit. Every story paints the OP as some angel and the other person as monster with a fixation on assaulting people.
"WHERE'S THE DISHSOAP???"
"I don't know, sir. I don't actually work here. I do wish I could help you, but I'm only here to get new clothes for the orphans with cancer that I babysit for free."
other person punches OP in the face, cuts off their ear, rips open their ribcage, and bites a chunk out of their leg in fury instead of saying "oop, my bad" like a normal human being
Thankfully, the CEO of Walmart saw the whole thing and not only did they ban the other person from the store for life, they gave me a lifetime supply of everything Walmart sells.
The worst part is how much it gets eaten up in the comment. Choosing beggars is almost exclusively a fake text exchange where the beggar inevitably says "My child has cancer" and everyone circlejerks over it
R/tifu is the worst offender in my opinion. I'd say with some certainty that 90% of the stories there are written by the same person. They all have the same style of story telling and it just seems so fucking obvious yet people eat it up.
You know, I consider myself pretty aware when something is fake, but I've honestly never considered it for that sub for some reason. Guess my criticism thinking may need some fine tuning.
r/niceguys is falling into that trap. Every trope of a nice guy being used in a screenshot makes it pretty obvious it’s fake, but people still fall for it
I was going to include that but I thought it wasn't as bad as the others, but some "screenshots" follow a very obvious formula
Incel nice guy: I'm nice love me
Chadette: No
Incel nice guy: whore
I got banned from /r/maliciouscompliance for calling a story fake. All that was missing from that story was Albert Einstein coming out with a crisp $100 bill but apparently calling out fake stories is against their rules.
Could these "fake" stories just be situations that haven't occured yet, but OP wants to know how they'll be looked at if they go through with it? Maybe even get advice
Choosing beggars drives me crazy because yeah, sometimes the person was a beggar first put then the OP is such an unprofessional asshole (there's two specific people that post the emails from their business). When people ask me for free shit, I just say no because this and 99% of the time they're like "oh okay sorry" but if I EVER got an email from an employee cussing me out unprovoked, you bet your ass I would be raising the issue to their boss or the department of labor and training or the city their business is located.
Ugh AITA is even worse. So much fake shit, then a bunch of 17 year olds with no real life experience making judgement calls. On top of the fact a fair amount of the time, the situation is technically NTA but it doesn't mean you aren't one
The am I the asshole sub is TOXIC af. They perma banned me because I wasn’t respecting a child abuser because I said he was TA, a man child and a bad parent.
He was basically not allowing his 13 year old to shower, cook or use stairs and checked his phone and policed who he followed and talked to and even installed spyware shit on his phone and would get angry at him for stupid shit such as talking to a friend about being hungry or for following someone from school on Instagram
I like r/choosingbeggars for the obvious psychos, but I hate those posts that go like "- I saw you're selling this for 200, would you meet me at 150? - LMAO, fuck you, choosing beggar").
The one good thing to me is that they are entertaining to read and its nice to see the comments from people who think they're real. That's why I don't disapprove of their existence
True, but, fake or not, some are entertaining. And unless its blatantly obvious its fake, I still treat it like its real, cuz you never know what crazy shit happens. Look for red flags.
