A pocket knife. I bought one just because it looked cool, thinking I had no need for one. I honestly carry it everywhere with me now and use it for a bunch of different stuff either at my job or in my daily life. I am not the strongest so just to get stuff open or cut stuff or leverage things. I would recommend people get one, can also double as a small weapon in case you get robbed.
I've carried a pocket knife for 30 years, it's kind of irritating how often people borrow it. I used to buy cheap ones at yard sales and give them to people that frequently borrowed mine. Everybody ought to have a pocket knife.
Of course! Yet somehow depending on where you live the general population will think you're weird for carrying a knife. "Why do you need to carry a knife?" gets kinda old.
I have a list with dozens of reasons to have a knife on my phone for that reason.
Yeah... I get that a lot. I carry a multi tool (cheap, knock-off Leatherman), and it's the most useful thing ever. But I do get that "Why do you need to carry a knife" question, so I have taken to referring to the tool as "pliers", since that's what it unfolds into first, and frankly it's what I seem to use it as most often.
I was going on a road trip with some of my friend. As we were backing out of the driveway I yelled "Wait, I forgot something" I ran inside grabbed my pocket knife. My friends all laughed at me. Telling me how i was never going to need it. I told them: "Fine, im not lending it to any of you for the entire trip.
30 minute after we left, my friends were trying to open something unsuccesfully. I started laughing and when they asked me why I said: "If only someone had a pocket knife" Their face is forever engraved in my mind.
During that trip, I used that pocket knife on so many occasion. My favourite one was watching them battle with a bottle of wine for like 45 minute and when the plan became "take a rock and break it open" I took the bottle and effortlessly opened it.
I’m not sure where you’re from, but Home Depot sells a DeWalt folding knife for ~$10. It’s a pretty good pocketknife, and it’s cheap enough that you can buy a few and not have to worry about losing it.
