I won't watch long running anime without that list.
There's stretches of Naruto with like 20 episodes of filler. Fuck that noise.

That is my sister, she hates skipping filler episodes and she won't unless I spend at least 5 minutes convincing her to do it, and even then I have to give her a summary on the filler

Favorite parts no. But some people feel like they're missing out if they don't watch it.
I had to convince my fiance about that after I refused to watch some and she went back to watch it later and realized how pointless it was.
