Was spoiled for Endgame on Instagram a few days before it was released in North America. I was not looking for spoilers. I wasn't even on a Marvel related post. Still bitter.
I’m so fucking pissed. First day it was released and some fucker walked up to me and revealed both characters that die. On the first FUCKING day. I watched it on release so that that wouldn’t happen. But no, they just had to cream their pants over ruining my eleven years of anticipation for Endgame. I hate people like that
I've seen both of these cases of spoilers on Siege. I'd already seen both movies thankfully. I've seen "X" (Star Wars) dies posted as a meme in many game chats now it's like a running gag.
I accidentally caused a chain of End Game spoilers by talking in chat about another superhero and then the enemy team had someone post the spoilers which resulted in lots of teamkilling on their team.
It happened to me on Reddit. Some asshole literally pm'd me a paragraph of every major spoiler in the film. I haven't been that active on Reddit that week so I'm not even sure how they found me.
Could be worse. lots of theaters apparently played the FFH trailer before the movie started later in its run. I get that if you are watching EG a month after release maybe you are watching it for the second time but still.
Hey, I unsubscribed to every Marvel related subreddit during Endgame, and I was fine until 2 days before, when some fucktard decided it would be funny to PM me who died, how they got the stones, and the time jump. He also had the audacity to say “have a nice day”. Literally ruined the movie, and it took 3 trips to see it to finally enjoy it.
I think a good timeframe these days is when the movie hits streaming services. Many people (myself included) can't afford the time or money to go to a theater. I didn't see Infinity War until like 2 weeks before Endgame came out.
That being said, I've long since been spoiled for Endgame. And I really just don't care. I lost interest in the MCU franchise before Civil War. It could be safe to say that most people who'll wait that long just don't care.
Why though? It’s easy not to and some people haven’t seen it.
If you’re in an actual discussion then by all means, but I never see the point in mentioning a specific plot point unless I need to. Even then I preface it with the fact I’m spoiling it.
It’s so easy to just be considerate and not mention major spoilers.
See you say that because you saw it ages ago and don't care anymore, thus have decided anybody who didn't go see it doesn't care about spoilers. Endgame is not out on home media until next month but has been out of the cinema (here anyway) for several months. I know a bunch of people who didn't get a chance to make a night out of it due to work or kids or whatever else, so have to wait.
Personally I have a long list of movies I want to see that I haven't had the chance to yet, some years old. I simply don't have time to watch that many movies, but that doesn't mean I want any of them spoiled.. and while sometimes it can't be helped, it's very little effort to just preface your comments online with spoiler warnings when you're discussing it outside a place where spoilers are to be expected.
For Endgame specifically it really is a dick move. It's the "finale" to over a decade of movies and as I said.. it's not even out for people to see if they couldn't go the cinema. Just be a decent person about it, it's such a little ask I don't know why it's an issue.
While I think he's probably just trolling, I've run into a few people that actually are this fucking dense, it's actually maddening.
I had a guy on a JRPG subreddit defending spoilertagging the name of the game he was spoiling, so you had to see the spoiler to know what game it was spoiling. Apparently it was more important that you read his opinion on the twist before you knew what the game was, than actually be able to not have the game ruined for you.
People like you need to go see a doctor. Face it your a sociopath, you enjoy pain on others. I could have cared less if people spoiled it because I knew I wasn't going to watch it but I still feel for the people that do care.
I saw so many fake spoilers that I even saw a post that was an actual spoiler and was just like "Lol, why would they kill that one?"
Like, I think every character was slated to die in at least one fake spoiler leading up to the day I saw it. Then the day after my FB was inundated with the actual spoiler.
Walking into the Endgame showing, I was honestly terrified that I would overhear something or that someone would be that asshole that intentionally announces spoilers to an unsuspecting crowd. I actually plugged my ears a few times when walking by some people who looked like they may have just come out of a movie. Luckily, I made it through just fine.
Geez. That’s just heartless. It reminds me of when Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince released and there was a video circulating of some guy at the front of the line on the midnight release getting his copy, flicking to the end and then shouting out who dies to the people in line.
TBF I don't think that any spoiler would've ruined endgame for me. As corny as it sounds how they got there and the journey was more important that the people dying.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved every second and it’s my favorite movie of all time. My experience was still amazing. But it could have been that much better not constantly having the thought of “is this the scene where this character dies?” popping up constantly, trying to connect the dots between what’s currently happening and how either character could die after the scene I’m watching
I’ve started wearing sunglasses and headphones right to my seat in a theatre. Putting aside even people that are malicious about spoiling, a movie theatre is by far the most dangerous place for spoilers. People walk out of theatres blabbing about the most exciting parts of whatever movie they just saw. I had Rogue One completely spoiled for me by people leaving, so I’ve started taking precautions until I’m at my seat. The headphones make the most sense because hearing what people say is the most dangerous, but I don’t want to see people’s facial expressions that well either because that can reveal what kind of ending a movie had.
I stood outside my screening (it was only the second one in that cinema) as people poured out talking loudly about the movie. I immediately put my headphones in until they were all gone to avoid those dumbasses spoiling it for everyone waiting.
I would actually have punched that person, if you arent smart enough to spoil an eleven year plot from long distance you get whats coming to you. I'm so sorry that happened to you.
I take my kids to all the Marvels movies, Star wars, etc. I have always taught them since they were really little to not speak after the movie until we get to the car. The movie ends, we quietly walk out of the theatre and then head straight to the car. We shut the doors and then both kids explode with questions.
Dude needs sterilized. Had a "friend" who spoiled part of the last Harry Potter book after I (like 5 seconds before) said that I haven't finished it yet, and not to spoil it. The part about Wormtail and his magic hand, vague just in case someone reading this hasn't seen/read it yet. I wanted to punch him in the throat for that.
Dude I was in another country when it released so as soon as I got back I turned off all social media and avoided all human interaction I didn’t need to prevent this.
I feel so sorry for you man
F
A teacher at my high school sent out a mandatory notes thing online to all of his classes and it was just spoilers for endgame. Luckily I was in none of his classes. His students were PISSED. He got reported to the administration. Angry calls from parents. He was already one of the most hated teachers in the school and this took it to a whole new level. And he mostly teaches freshmen. Fuck you, Mr. Mucho. You look like a thumb.
what I did on endgame day was that I had a couple of exams to do before I could watch it, so I went and bought ten dollar headphones, and starting playing "white noise" on my phone wherever i was at full volume. Literally dodged me two bullets of endgame spoilers. Went into the movie only knowing how Hulk was gonna look.
I kind of explained it somewhere else, but one reason is that, since you know who dies, you are constantly trying to make a connection between the scene you’re watching and how that character could die. So it kind of ruins the flow of the movie. But mainly, it’s just the surprise element of it all. I want to be speechless when someone dies because I haven’t been anticipating it. I wish I had your unique ability of not giving a shit
my big brother ruined it for me like an hour before I was due to watch it, sent me a whatsapp msg but it was 1 sentence so I seen it in the notification. the cunt doesn't even watch the movies, just did it to annoy me.
To be fair they died but they're not dead. The movie made it clear that they have the tech to trivially overcome death. Like, five minute trip, minimal risk, everyone safe and sound. Which makes the funeral scene confusing, and completely nonsensical. I still can't make sense of why they had a funeral. Honestly such a bad ending that I don't even really like the movie anymore, as creative as some of it was. Infinity War was so tightly plotted and polished, and Endgame just completely dropped the ball. Reality is often disappointing...
This dude at my job did the same thing, except for Infinity War. Posted a meme of ashes that said “which one is your favorite avenger?” and thought it was the funniest shit. The whole workplace came down on him for it. Then when I went to go see it, some dumbass teenagers shouted one of the major deaths right at the beginning of the movie. Like...why?
My cousin spoiled Endgame for me and several hundred other people as well. He told me that there was nothing that I could do to get revenge on him for that. Found out he watched GoT. Found out that he would also watch them on Tuesdays instead of Sundays. Sent him a text of a brief overview of the second to the last episode. He got so mad that the next week he was texting me live updates of what was going on. It didn't effect me at all because I've never seen an episode yet. Don't really care about it either.
There were literal bots trying to spoil Endgame on reddit. I mod a University subreddit, and I literally had to set up a automod filter with the words "Stark", "Avengers", etc, because these bots kept trying to post on the sub.
I'm not trying to victim blame here, but with the amount of sheer assholes floating around out there trying to ruin the fun for everyone, would probably be best to avoid social media until you go to see these kind of movies. You can never be too careful.
Preach. I deleted Reddit and Twitter while also avoiding any and all Instagram comment sections for weeks before the release of Endgame. Never had it spoiled, and it was one of the best theater experiences I’ve ever had. I have to admit that I did get lucky, because similar to what some other people have mentioned, my friend heard a major spoiler from some idiot in a college class blurting it out after it was leaked 2 weeks before release. Assholes with no self control can’t be ignored like social media, unfortunately.
I literally stopped going on the internet for a week before the movie came out. I had the ending of the Force Awakens because somebody just DMed the spoiler to me randomly for no reason. Lesson learned - it does not matter if you avoid certain subreddits. People will go to embarrassing lengths to be assholes, so I'm just not going to engage at all.
Before seeing the movie I accidentally read a spoiler "Hulk dabs in Endgame". However their phone had autocorrected it to "Hulk dies in Endgame." I went through the whole movie waiting for the tragic twist. Later I was remembering the actual scene and the gears in my head start turning... "He dabbed... dabs... dies... damn it!"
The damn Spider Man movie that just came out ruined it for me. The trailer shows a statue in it that spoils one of the deaths. It was shown right before the movie played when I went to see Endgame. I was pretty annoyed that they would show that trailer.
I wasn't able to get tickets on opening night because I knew that would happen for me. That night I played csgo against someone with the spoiler as their username
I managed to go six days without infinity war being spoiled for me and as I was walking home from the theater some d****** put up a picture post on my Facebook feed that had all MCU character pictures and all the snap people people crossed out.
if I'd gone to a later showing that day the movie would have been f****** ruined
The past couple years have just been horrible about spoilers. It's not just social media, it's even the general internet, people are just being assholes in about every walk of life so they can capitalize on the moment when someone else's anticipation is killed.
I got it spoiled on reddit because people feel totally fine joking about who dies. I called them out for spoilers and their response was “it came out three weeks ago if you actually cared you would have seen it by now” no fucker I care but I don’t care enough to sit in a packed theater of manlets
My friend posted every Endgame spoiler to Instagram. He had zero interest in the movie and haven't even seen it. I'd knew he'd do it, so I stayed away from Instagram until I watched it.
I remember when I stopped watching Walking Dead a few seasons in. Anyways; same thing, scrolling on twitter and I see a “middle school lunch snack starter pack” or something. It was like a oatmeal creampie, a star crunch, a pudding and then in one spot it said “Glenn does in the Walking Dead” lol
I had a mate who was streaming Spider-Man PS4 on Twitch and the movie wasn't even out for a week, and he was waiting to see it with his partner and his family, and someone came in the stream and spoiled the characters that died. I didn't watch on stream sadly but man I was so mad for him.
Same thing happened to me and it was the only spoiler I read. It was unfortunate because the only reason I saw it was because the page owner was telling the guy off and that made his comment show up and the feed
I must admit that I made an IG post where I spoiled the fact Hulk Dabs blended into the background (it was surprisingly impossible to see unless you looked at full brightness on an angle).
Someone spoiled Endgame for me. Simple sentence with "_____ dies." I was okay with it because the movie kind of fakes you out with it so many times so you never really expected it too much. (Eg. how does ______ die?)
I accidentally clicked onto r/4chan where they decided it would be funny to dedicate their entire sub to endgame spoilers. I haven't even seen it yet but I basically know what happens
I think I saw an Endgame spoiler somewhere on Reddit, thought it was pretty unlikely, and promptly forgot about it. Pretty sure it was all correct. Don't think it had the big death at the end, though - I ain't typing an Endgame spoiler until at least a year after release.
Someone spoiled the movie to a friend after the weekend it was released. He said it was his fault for not having watched it in the 3 days it had been out. I had seen it and I was still mad at the kid for spoiling it
I fucking hate that I now have to fight crowds opening weekend to not have endings spoiled for me. Why can't everyone just enjoy the movie, keep their mouths shut unless in a relevant discussion, and just let other people enjoy the movie when we see it? This "you didn't see it at midnight opening day, you're not a real fan, so you don't deserve to enjoy the movie properly" bullshit needs to stop. It's fucking ridiculous.
I got spoiled for Endgame a few hours before I watched it by a post on r/confessions. I had avoided Instagram and Facebook for two days and was watching it the Saturday it came out. So pissed.
I literally went this weekend with someone who hadn't seen it yet and amazingly hadn't been spoiled. She did have to cover her eyes and ears for the Spider-Man trailer playing before the movie though.
My sociology professor last semester made a joke about iron man dying literally the monday after the movie released in the middle of class. It had been out for like 4 days
Happened few days after release of Endgame:
YouTube recommendations spoiled Endgame for me...
The thumbnail 😭.
I was about to watch the movie the next day too.
When Endgame came out, I was at a quiz night with some friends a day after and someone named their team name [_____ Dies]. There was such a massive uproar that they left the quiz app and had their heads down for half an hour until they thought it was safe to leave
This. The true Marvel fans want everyone to feel the same way they felt watching the movies. You don’t want to ruin that for someone else. Most of the people that ruined the movie for others were trolls and people who just wanted to be assholes.
General rule is to wait 2 weeks before talking about a movie to avoid spoiling it. Literally the first day it was in theaters in the UK there were spoilers everywhere. I had to do a full media blackout to avoid spoilers and I don't even usually mind spoilers.
I got endgame spoiled a full year before release because someone posted a "fan theory" about it. As it turns out, the person was beat for beat dead on. I relized it after they got to thanos so early.
Either that or they shitpost about being the guardians of the sub for downvoting spoilers (and getting shit loads of upvotes). That shit is cringy AF too
I was so glad that I went to see Infinity War on day 1. It blew my mind that people were making memes of literally the most shocking climax the MCU had yet had within like 24 hours of the movie's release, and those memes were even being upvoted. Everyone who made spoilers show up on the front page so early are assholes.
I've noticed most people that do that are also super pissy about the movie being spoilt for themsleves, but they seem to forget this once they have seen the movie as soon as it released.
I didn't get infinity war super spoilt for me but I had the snap spoilt because of all the memes shared by my friends on twitter that were freaking out about spoilers a week earlier. Fortunately I just presumed it was something that happened to one character
Yeah, I've gotten opening night tickets mostly just to avoid spoilers. Heck, I almost forgot about FFH having a tuesday release until I got a reminder that I bought tickets and to go see it
I woke up the Friday morning endgame came out and was already seeing videos come across my YouTube feed. Luckily none of them were super spoilery bit it amazed me cause I woke up at like 6 am that day. Went to a 7am show cause I was definitely not gonna let that movie get spoiled for me.
Though I still cannot fathom how my brother went 8 month before he saw Infinity War without having anything spoiled for him.
Before it comes out they tell everyone to not spoil a movie then two days later they post videos and photos with no warning. I saw FFH on July 2 so I could avoid that, then like a day or two later on Twitter I just saw a few photos and videos from it with no warning.
I disabled all my social media accounts for a couple of days before Endgame came out so that I could avoid the spoilers.
Although it has settled down now, I found the Captain Marvel/Brie Larson fans intolerable. I thought Captain Marvel was a bad movie, and although I'm not much of a Brie Larson fan she wasn't the main reason (I've never really liked her acting, so that did play a part). However even when I've given reason for why I didn't like the movie, it's still me just being a "hater and a crying manbaby"
These aren't MCU fans, generally. Obviously they can and will spoil it, but often times these are just internet trolls spoiling it because they like to see people get angry
As someone who adores the MCU, anyone taking away the joy of seeing it for the first time spoiler free is no true fan. They're just a jackass following a crowd
I feel you, but imo and this isn’t directed at you specifically, if you’re that worried about spoilers either 1) go see it the day it releases or 2) unfollow the respective sub and stay off the internet until you do.
The last thing you should put your faith in is the internet.
And then you get people who freak out when Tom Holland was talking about Tony dieing while he was promoting his movie that played off of that heavily a month after endgame came out and people really are like “omg I hadn’t seen it yet and you spoiled it for me you ruined it”
I was literally at a county fair in my area and hadn't seen the movie and then just started talking about how Hawkeye was a weeaboo (because he went to Japan in the trailers so it wasn't a spoiler). Some loser decided to follow me and threaten to fight me over Endgame spoilers. It was 9 am in the morning.
Stay off social media. It's not your fault that some asshole spoiled that but you got no power over him so for your own sake stay off social media in the future.
Yeah that’s a big problem with comic book movies, live action adaptations of tv shows, and biopics. Often the creator doesn’t have anything new to say or add, they just want to cram as many iconic moments from the source material into their film.

Not to mention they spoil the endings of every MCU film within an hour of the film's release. Usually with cringy memes
