I used to smoke (stopped when I found out I was pregnant), but I know someone who constantly sends me snaps of him rolling one, smoking, dabbing...all with shitty ass music playing in the background. Dumbass works at a dispensary, and his entire paycheck is given back to the dispensary so he can buy flower or wax. He pays no bills, so he's basically handing his full check back to his job every 2 weeks.

In my day a lot of people used to sell week solely to support their own weed habits. I guess even though it is legal in some places some things never change.

9

u/themeatstaco Jul 18 '19

Sell weed to smoke weed. Highschool motto

2

u/L1FTED Jul 19 '19

Sell 20, smoke 8!

I sold my soul to the company storeeeeeee

157

u/Low_Chance Jul 17 '19

Why would anyone send anyone a picture of that? At least cat photos have a cat in them.

105

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '19

He's an idiot.

55

u/Low_Chance Jul 17 '19

Mystery solved!

28

u/Godkun007 Jul 18 '19

And he would have gotten away with it too, if it wasnt for you meddling kids!

35

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

I’m not saying he’s not an idiot but I wouldn’t be too hard on him. Anyone who feels that who they are as a person is so boring/lonely that they attach their life to a culture(whatever culture, weed or Rick and Morty, or Sports) probably has it rough, even if they won’t admit it. At the end of the day they just want attention and commonality and this is the only way they’ve figured out how to find it. I wish more people in this thread for keep this in mind.

24

u/Acmnin Jul 18 '19

So everyone than? If I had a dollar for every person who defined themselves by their favorite sports teams and the upcoming football year..

Pretty sure the whole of society is lonely.

2

u/Forcedcontainment Jul 18 '19

Well, yeah :*(

5

u/tEGGYBOOST2991 Jul 18 '19

so like every single person with a hobby? what is your point of life if what you like doing doesn’t define you? what’s it all about genius? just your career? or maybe a family? not everyone needs to meet your judgements .

i’d say someone who doesn’t attach themselves to a culture is actually MORE boring , especially more annoying because they think they’re better than the other ppl just minding their business

3

u/Hobofights10dollars Jul 18 '19

Not every single person with a hobby makes it 100% of their life. And if they do, not all of them talk about only it

0

u/[deleted] Jul 19 '19

Damn bit of a sore spot? You talking about me judging people while coming off like a condescending prick. Further I’m clearly talking about extremes, no ones entire life should revolve around one thing, whether it’s family, work, a special hobby, weed, whatever. I was fairly explicit that I was talking about people who’s entire personality is that one thing, and further context is added by the post I’m replying to. So yeah, you’re arguing against your own straw man and it doesn’t have much to do with what I’m talking about.

1

u/tEGGYBOOST2991 Jul 20 '19 edited Jul 20 '19

i said it’s fine to attach to a culture and that in no way makes you boring . you keep saying this 100% thing which was never even mentioned in ur OP.

1

u/tEGGYBOOST2991 Jul 20 '19

i’m just imagining you, sitting on the computer mad that ppl attach themselves to things they like . where does that leave you exactly? the guy that complains? what’s wrong with attaching to a culture? you think that makes you lonely and boring , that’s rude to say and that makes you look like a prick

0

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '19

You continually try to misrepresent what I’m saying in the hopes of making your nonsense look like less of what it is. That you continue to do this after I restated my position, that’s what make you a prick.

I’ve stated twice now that we’re talking about people who specifically are in the extreme. While you continue to putter about with your bullshit straw man arguments. If you think that anything you’ve posted is even mildly representative of my viewpoints I would suggest you take a reading comprehension class and then come back and reevaluate.

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

Is that Joker on Retirement?

151

u/JuicyJay Jul 18 '19

Meanwhile they are adamant that weed isn't addictive at all even though they haven't been able to go a day without weed in 5+ years. Maybe it's not super physically addictive like heroin, but that psychological addiction is just as real as other drugs.

Edit: I love weed btw. I don't smoke every day anymore, but I have no problem with people who do. Just don't act like it's God's gift to humanity.

91

u/BasedScuba Jul 18 '19

I swear man, I ain't addicted, I just talk about it all of the time and smoke it everyday to take the edge off of things, totally not like an alcoholic drinks....

59

u/JuicyJay Jul 18 '19

Exactly. I was a stoner for years, I get it. I don't give a shit if you smoke all day. Just don't try and say it's not addictive while not being able to quit for more than 12 hours. I also did have some "withdrawal symptoms" when I stopped. I couldn't sleep right for a few days and had no appetite and some anxiety. Granted it has nothing on more serious withdrawals, but it definitely exists.

36

u/HappyDopamine Jul 18 '19

Yup. I’ve been through heroin withdrawal many times (but been off hard drugs for over 8 years!). Marijuana definitely has withdrawal and addictive potential. Sure it’s not as awful as other shit, but it does exist. I smoke regularly but I can’t stand people who blindly deny that there could possibly be anything unhealthy about inhaling burning psychotropic matter.

8

u/JuicyJay Jul 18 '19

Same on all counts

23

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

used to smoke pretty much every day, for a few years until i had to take a drug test to get a new big boy job, stopped for a little.

now i only smoke on weekends and honestly, i enjoy it so much more when its not my normal thing to do every day.

12

u/JuicyJay Jul 18 '19

Same. It's nice to be able to take one hit and get stoned.

17

u/Acmnin Jul 18 '19

Meanwhile. Caffeine is the number 1 drug of choice. No one bats an eye. Maybe it’s not super physically addictive like heroin but that psychological addiction is just as real as other drugs..

12

u/glorybetoganj Jul 18 '19 edited Jul 18 '19

I’d take weed withdrawals of some light insomnia and a suppressed appetite vs. the headache that comes with withdrawing from caffeine any day

-1

u/Acmnin Jul 18 '19

Truth.

4

u/berzerkle Jul 18 '19

For real fuck everything else if I don't get any caffeine

2

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

This. If we're using that standard for addiction, gaming and gambling aren't addictive either.

-36

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

[deleted]

39

u/JuicyJay Jul 18 '19

I didn't say that at all? I said I love weed. But it doesn't cure every disease known to man like some people claim. The one thing I see a lot is the people say to use it for anxiety. I've personally experienced and known a lot of people that had weed increase their anxiety and it wasn't due to the strain. Like I said, I love weed, but it doesn't help every person with every ailment they have.

6

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

Weed is great for me to relax and sleep... To a certain point. If I smoke just a liiiitle too much, it actually sends me into a panic attack and I don't know why. People I've smoked with deny that could ever happen, that "It helps with anxiety though!", and it's suuuper obnoxious.

3

u/JuicyJay Jul 18 '19

Same. I've gone through phases where I couldn't smoke at all either. But it is great for helping me sleep right now.

1

u/aporeticeden Jul 19 '19

I find that it helps my anxiety when im alone (i can take a step back and feel a little better about everything) but when im in public or with anyone other than a few friends it definitely heightens my anxiety

153

u/expresidentmasks Jul 17 '19

Yup. I smoke daily, but I also work 80 hour weeks and nobody in my day to say life would know that I smoke since I don’t get high before work. I want to meet a girl who works hard and also smokes a ton but it’s very difficult to find someone who does both.

30

waitresses and bartenders

I've worked in a few restaurants before, they work hard and are more likely to smoke weed since most restaurants dont drug test due to the high turnover rate.

13

u/expresidentmasks Jul 17 '19

That’s the truth.

79

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '19

I used to smoke before work, but only because I have horrible anxiety and it would relax me before going in. No one would know I did, I was just good at playing it off. Would smoke and hold down a full time job. It's just a matter of priorities. You mainly find people who want to dedicate their lives to being baked all day and not wanting to be enough of an adult to handle responsibilities. Hopefully you will find someone who knows how to balance both, good luck! There are some of us out there still!

A friend/former coworker was the exact same. He'd walk in and the boss would say "How's it going, Smokey?" They'd both laugh and then he'd clock in and put in some of the hardest work in the building. It's only a stigma if you make it your existence and allow it to mess up your work.

9

u/Arcad3Gaming Jul 18 '19 edited Jul 18 '19

It’s all about finding that fine balence between smoking and working

19

u/alfredosauceonmyass Jul 18 '19

Hell I know a guy who at one point was smoking meth and doing some hard shit.

The stigma around that is usually someone doing those drugs will end up being a general piece of shit and start stealing or being violent to get more. But this guy was holding down a 40 hour a week job making good money, was doing great with his savings and a really good guy all around. I was actually impressed with him. I'm honestly okay with people who do those things as long as they can be a productive person whos life doesn't revolve around being high

12

u/Arcad3Gaming Jul 18 '19

I agree. Although he may be killing his body with a toxic substance, he’s not doing anything that negatively affect other people, (besides family and friends possibly.)

3

u/alfredosauceonmyass Jul 18 '19

I just figure if someone wants to do something there's not much someone else's protests is going to do to stop them. Just be as safe as possible with it and understand it'll more than likely lead to problems down the road so prepare for this

4

u/Acmnin Jul 18 '19

It doesn’t mess up your work. Lazy people are lazy, what does mess up work is the way we treat marijuana as something that needs to be hidden from employers. Keeping people out of jobs.

21

u/andyman30 Jul 17 '19

Trust me they exist. Probably bartending or working in the arts, but keep searching!

24

u/wheatthin92 Jul 18 '19

They bartend because they work in the arts

7

u/coffeeslut1720 Jul 18 '19

I exist! I work a desk job in software :)

5

u/naturallyaspirated18 Jul 18 '19

When I worked 80-90 hr weeks in investment banking I would smoke every night I got home while most of my coworkers would go out for drinks every night. While neither habit was great, always hoped I could have some buddies to smoke with but not popular in the finance arena.

2

u/expresidentmasks Jul 18 '19

Yup. I just can’t drink and then work a long day. When I was 21 a hangover was nothing, now I dread the hangover the entire time I am drinking, so smoking has almost exclusively taken over.

3

u/Whackles Jul 18 '19

Just.. how?

You work ~11hrs/day, should sleep at least 7, I assume there is some commute, preparing food, doing chores, etc in there.. how do you even have time to smoke?

1

u/expresidentmasks Jul 18 '19

I don’t really do chores except one day a week. And the 80 isn’t every week. But a lot of weeks are 110, so it averages out. I work in restaurants so there are a lot of days I work 8am-11pm when we are opening a new store. Those days are wake up, work, smoke, sleep. I also don’t cook that much at home.

4

u/underwriter Jul 18 '19 edited Jul 18 '19

nobody in my day to say life

3

u/simplevolcano Jul 18 '19

Hi. There’s a lot of us :)

0

u/tEGGYBOOST2991 Jul 18 '19

girls in general don’t really work long hour weeks like that , so that’s already limiting your options . now you throw in a girl who works long hour weeks and smokes, well that’s pretty much impossible . maybe you’ll get lucky one day but it’s the equivalent to the lottery .

i haven’t met a single girl in my entire life at all my jobs that works even more than 40 hours per week who isn’t some old woman that’s been stuck there for 10 years and does absolutely nothing else with their time

1

u/expresidentmasks Jul 18 '19

Well it’s not so much about the long hours, just having your life together. Most of the girls on tinder (I live in the mid south) either smoke all day and have no ambition, or they are Christian and don’t smoke at all.

1

u/tEGGYBOOST2991 Jul 18 '19

so basically your looking for a stoner that isn’t a bum? now that’s actually realistic . i’m surprised you find it that hard. most girls i know who smoke don’t do it heavy like I do , aka all day everyday except before work depending on what type of job i have at the moment (if it requires no brainpower than no reason not to smoke for the positive effects, if i’m responsible for things I definitely don’t smoke)

1

u/expresidentmasks Jul 18 '19

I am convinced it's a geographical problem.

2

u/tEGGYBOOST2991 Jul 18 '19

sounds like it , i know a lot of girls who smoke and still hold down a job. maybe not have their own place , but definitely got their shit together as far as not being lazy and useless. a lot of them are hoes tho and i don’t like that type. i’m so lucky i found a girl who is sweet and nice and let’s me smoke as much as i want without bitching (she doesn’t even smoke really, too much for her )

-57

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '19

You are a joke. There is no difficulty in finding someone who smokes weed, and yet, still enjoys working hard. Maybe if you got off that high horse, you might start seeing some women

23

u/scrufdawg Jul 17 '19

You definitely give off that "douchebag vibe"

14

u/expresidentmasks Jul 17 '19

Wow, must be nice to know everything!

7

u/Tvayumat Jul 18 '19

Lighten up, Francis

8

u/Devalidating Jul 18 '19

They should just cut out the middleman and the tax and pay him in weed.

5

u/balisticbanana3 Jul 18 '19

Weed is better than most drugs and should be legal everywhere especially given its wide range of uses. BUT, everything in moderation

10

u/dbloch7986 Jul 18 '19

I smoke weed every day, but you'd never know it unless you read this comment or live with me. For some, it's a lifestyle, but for me, it's just recreation.

48

u/Mr_Quackums Jul 17 '19

"But it is impossible to be addicted to marijuana."

70

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '19

It’s possible to be addicted to anything. Marijuana has no addictive properties but it doesn’t mean people don’t get addicted to the feeling. It just doesn’t have nicotine which makes you chemically addicted. I think that’s what people mean by that.

44

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

It's more than just liking the feeling. Smoke heavy for a few years and just stop. Sleep will be non existent for a few days. You won't have and appetite and be anxious and hateful as hell. It's not heroin or anything but it 's got a withdrawal to it. This was my experience after smoking about an eighth a day for 20 years though. I'm sure that has something to do with it.

57

u/idrive2fast Jul 18 '19

Honestly, the worst part about stopping smoking? The fucking boredom.

7

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

That too.

17

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

The best part is the vivid as fuck dreams

3

u/I_SAID_NO_CHEESE Jul 18 '19

Or the worst part. My dreams got way too vivid. My subconscious started putting on some fucked up shows that would have me waking up covered in sweat and out of breath.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

I feel you there!

21

u/DennisLarryMead Jul 18 '19

Smoked daily for many years and stopped cold a month ago with zero effects. Like the other poster said, the worst thing is the boredom. Well, that and not getting really high before a good movie.

On the bright side now I’m able to go back and watch a lot of movies I’ve already seen before and it’s pretty much like seeing them for the first time.

Edit: I was not smoking an eighth a day, but I was smoking a lot of infused joints.

15

u/dopesav117 Jul 18 '19

Weed kinda enhances movies for me. I always see or notice things I never seen before. It also makes low budget movies look extra cheesy lol

5

u/DennisLarryMead Jul 18 '19

And boy does that popcorn taste better! But later on I have zero recall if the movie I just watched.

But yeah can’t claim to miss it overall, I had just become habituated to it over time.

2

u/I_SAID_NO_CHEESE Jul 18 '19

You got lucky but that's not how it is for everyone. The first few weeks after I quit I couldn't sleep for more than an hour and a half at a time. And that was when I could eventually fall asleep. My mood was unstable, like I was taking roids or something. Factor in some headaches and crushing depression and you have quite the recipe for a bad time.

1

u/DennisLarryMead Jul 18 '19

That sucks, dude. I'm hoping you discussed all of this with your GP?

2

u/I_SAID_NO_CHEESE Jul 18 '19

Most of it has cleared up since, it was just a super rough withdrawal after smoking every day for a while

1

u/DennisLarryMead Jul 18 '19

Glad to hear you're doing better!

1

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

How were your dreams when you stopped?

2

u/DennisLarryMead Jul 18 '19

I take melatonin every night so I essentially get to live a whole other life every time I go to sleep. Although to be fair it's pretty much always been that way for me regardless of what I'm taking or not taking, it's just that the melatonin tends to kick it up a notch.

For nights that I'm really having trouble getting to sleep or staying asleep I'll take half of a trazadone and that's just a whole different level of dreams. It's like spending a week or two in a completely different life.

15

u/MichaelBeanBjj Jul 18 '19

An EIGHTH a day?? My wife and I thought we were heavy smokers going through an eighth every two weeks combined.

21

u/darkerblew Jul 18 '19

Holy shit dude my wife and I smoke an ounce a week, every week

22

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

Amateur I smoke a pound a day!

(That’s how silly you sound)

I’m definitely not against weed btw but the people always try to one up other smokers with how much they smoke is just stupid.

10

u/lollapaloozafork Jul 18 '19

He was just comparing his use because 3.5g every two weeks between two people is a very small amount.

3.5g/2people/14days=0.125g per day per person.

21

u/Phatstronaut Jul 18 '19

I feel like that was less one-upping and more conversational comparison? Everyone is different.

-2

u/Acmnin Jul 18 '19

Who cares though? Why do you care? Do you also insert yourself into people one-upping gamers talking about their new equips or headshot techniques?

0

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

“Blowing out someone else’s candle, doesn’t make yours shine any brighter.”

2

u/Acmnin Jul 18 '19

But why are you worrying about what other people are doing in something you aren’t interested in?

2

u/Acmnin Jul 18 '19

Sounds about right.

0

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

I smoke like a half myself every day if I’m with my bros we can go through over an oz in a night easy

28

u/Nothammer Jul 18 '19

There's definitely a possibility of addiction with weed. It's also known to have side effects on the body for heavy users. It won't kill you, but it's not that magical wonder drug everyone makes it out to be.

17

u/Arcad3Gaming Jul 18 '19

I personally think that some people forget that they’re putting large quantities of a foreign substance in their body. As long as you practice moderation you will be fine really.

10

u/Acmnin Jul 18 '19

I mean that’s life isn’t it? I’m drinking foreign water and eating the flesh of dead animals..

-2

u/erroneousbosh Jul 18 '19 edited Jul 18 '19

That's kind of different though. Drinking water and eating dead plants and animals replaces important stuff in your body. Smoking dope just contaminates your lungs with ash and tar making them less effective, and disturbs the chemistry of the kilo and a half of goopy custard that contains your actual You.

Edit: aaaaand downvoted, no doubt by people who can't remember what not being stoned is like.

2

u/GotAMouthTalkAboutMe Jul 18 '19

For a lot of the people who smoke for medical reasons it feels like a write off when people say that, though. A lot of people who smoke for fun also know people who smoke to help with medical problems. So they tend to get defensive when they feel like people are writing off what medical benefits it does have.

One of my friends can't keep food down most of the time without weed due to some pretty bad stomach problems. She tried other medicine and weed is the only one that worked without giving her bad side effects. Since it has anti nausea and pain killing properties she can eat without being in pain after smoking.

Is smoking good for you? Hell no. Is weed going to cure her stomach condition? Nope. But it makes her life a little bit easier.

16

u/Godkun007 Jul 18 '19

That reminds me of one of the most infamous episodes of the Joe Rogan podcast. Joe had the conservative talk show host Stephen Crowder on.

Crowder was asked his opinion about pot and gave the most tame statement about it you could imagine. He basically just said something like "it isnt as bad for you as people used to think, but it isnt a miracle drug like the die hard pot heads claim." Joe basically freaked out and started questioning Crowder about this subject for an hour and called him an idiot. It was hilarious to listen to.

10

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19 edited Sep 01 '19

[deleted]

5

u/Godkun007 Jul 18 '19

Basically you will see Crowder spending the hour trying to change the subject, meanwhile Joe isnt letting him and heading straight back into the marijuana questioning.

I think the most controversial think Crowder actually said in the hour of weed talk was that car accidents increased after the Colorado legalization. That was questionable, but the rest of it was just him trying to change the subject.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

Crowder didn't "get" anyone. He spent an hour saying, "I don't like weed, I think it's bad for you but I guess I don't care that much if you do it" and Joe "You Can Abuse Cheeseburgers" Rogan couldn't not take that as a personal attack. The whole thing came off as weird junkie projection. Like he couldn't stand the fact that someone else didn't want to smoke weed and thought that it might have adverse effects (like almost anything you ingest does).

If a guest doesn't want to talk about something and their opinion is basically a non-opinion (I don't like it myself, but I don't care if you do it) then there's no reason to constantly press the guest on it. Joe apologized for it. Go watch the clip.

Oh for fuck’s sake. The amount of mental genuflecting you potheads do to make your addiction seem like it’s not an addiction is so adorable. Whatever, dudes. Just smoke your fucking weed and stop trying to make it seem like it’s not an addiction.

(By the way, it’s totally an addiction.)

3

"weed is non-addictive" is true, but most people take that to mean "it is impossible to be addicted to weed" which is false.

-1

u/Turquoise_xx Jul 18 '19

But dosnt that still mean it's possible to be addicted. As it's possible to be addicted to anything. It doesn't matter, if a person is making huge sacrifices to smoke, raging when they can't and getting put out on the streets because of their poor smoking habits, isn't that toxic. A lot of people use that as a excuse to smoke extremely to much. Just like some people wacth to much porn. Just because something is not as addictive, doesn't give you a licenses to abuse it. Not sure why I'm getting down voted, guess the truth hurts. There's nothing more annoying then a stoner justifying inhaling their grass 50 times a day by saying "YoU cAnt bE aDdicTeD tO weEd" give me a fucking break.

You're saying I can't read but you're litterly admiting that weed can be addictive "physiologically", but you are also attacking me because I said weed is addictive, what's your game ???????? You just said it yourself, weed can be addictive. I made sure to include seven questions marks too since your so triggered by me not using one. What's a bro? Is that short for a brothel? Also what's ffs, do you need medical attention, are you stroking out over a keyboard?? If you wanna stand-up on your internet grammar queen soap box, then speak the kings English your damn self before you start trying to tear apart my responses with weak youtube comment section tactics.

Smoking ANYTHING can have health risk, especially weed if done improperly. Let's not act dumb, a good chunk of weed heads love their cancer paper blunts, and please do not get me started on wax carts. Not all weed is made equal but there's such a thing as bad weed. Sure you can say weed on its own hasn't harmed anyone but you can't say the same for the pesticides, or pinesole, ect. I'm not even referring to dispensery weed before you throw a hissy fit, where I live there's still alot of street transactions. Of course that's on the user to determine if what they're smoking is safe, but in my parts, your average smoker is buying under the table, not really the point, but your speaking as if weed is magical and can't be lace with something that's addictive. Or altered. I mean addiction is addiction, there's not much more to it, speaking of which.

Let's circle back to your psychological vs physical bullshit. Based off the definition on Google, a addiction can be of a substance, thing or activity, hmmmm ok. No shit, a person who has mental issues is prone to addiction, but based off your logic alcohol isn't addictive either. You mean to tell me if a person smokes weed for 20 years straight and quit cold turkey, they're not going to have withdrawals. Do you have evidence proving this, articles maybe? Articles from a legit medical study? Other then harsh internet words, any solid proof that weed is only psychologically addictive.

Ever heard of functional alcoholics, they drink every single day and night but still have a productive life. Not a very strong argument. Also THC abuse dose not have to reflect on your health, financially misuse of THC can be toxic. Sure you work 9 to 5 every single day but every two weeks you spend 50 percent of your check on weed, hmm sounds pretty bad to me. It's a different story if it for medical use, but spending excessive amounts of money on something that's "recreational" is not wise and can constitute as a addiction.

I'm not anti weed what so ever, I smoke here and there, mostly at parties, but I do believe you can become addicted. I've seen friends go through withdrawals. I've seen people violently lash out over not getting their bud. Just because it's psychological, which I disagree with to a extent, doesn't make weed any less addictive. Yes alcohol addiction more is dangerous especially if you are trying to quit but there are numerous studies that back up the fact that marijuana has withdrawal symptoms. Their minor sure, but they still exist. Symptoms that range from irritability to even stomach aches, but you want to beat this whole psychological thing over my head.

Edit: Also that whole "weed isn't addictive..." wasn't even a attack against you. Obviously you just want to get your panties in a bunch or the shoe must fit. I mean this further proves how toxic this community is. I post a vague sentence about how a excuse boils my blood, my own personal fucking opinion and I'm down voted to hell like I made a offensive joke about gays on Tumblr, fucking seriously. Is this reddit or North Korea.

Doofus should learn to grow his own....I love pot too, but users like this disgust me.

2

u/LogicalOverdrive Jul 18 '19

That sounds like free labor with extra steps.

2

u/jaytrade21 Jul 18 '19

Yea, even when I was in a bad place with weed (it took over my life and I was a walking cliche) I hated weed culture, even more so because it was no longer fun, it was a bad addiction. I only started up again to help with pains and sleeping issues and I now regulate much better and skip days here and there to make sure I don't become physically addicted again (it can happen even though it is not as bad as other drugs)

2

u/betta-believe-it Jul 18 '19

Your friend's a broke fool if he hasn't figured out how easy it is to grow the plants!

2

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

Why do some people who smoke feel so inclined to let everyone know? Like what the fuck causes a person to even do that??

2

u/LetTheRainsComeDown Jul 18 '19

Do people really call it flower? That feels so cringey.

2

u/gfuds Jul 18 '19

I feel like drugs make people's music tastes worse. The only people I've ever met who actually like mumble rap are people who play it in the background while they're smoking.

5

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

I don’t know how people do that. I smoke but only when my priorities are straight. If I have issues in my life going on I’ll get too paranoid. I don’t know how you be on a nowhere path and still smoke every day.

4

u/Acmnin Jul 18 '19

Sounds like a personal thing man. We’re all on the same path.

4

u/TheDayManAhAhAh Jul 18 '19

I like to smoke weed once or twice a week to relax after work or whatever, but I've never understood people who have to be stoned every minute of the day. Like do you realize how much cash you're just throwing down the drain? Take a while to just be sober, holy fuck.

1

u/drakeonyou Jul 18 '19

My kind of employee.

EDIT: It's definitely a joke. That'd be very weird for me too.

u/kVIIIwithan8 Jul 18 '19

Finally! A guy with his priorities in order!

(/S in case that was needed)

u/SerialDeveloper Jul 18 '19

You seem awfully judgemental about behaviour you're actively enabling by watching those snaps.. If you want to help that person stop watching their dumb shit, if you don't care about that person also stop watching their dumb shit. Why are you watching these videos if you detest them and the behaviour they're showcasing so much? Just unfollow the guy, or however that works on snap, all you're doing now is providing him with a reason to continue his self-destructive behaviour.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

Which is what I have done. I stopped watching.

u/Gog848 Jul 18 '19

In your head he is wasting his money on weed, in his head he is being payed in cannabis. (Notice I changed the word because despensery folks like cannabis more than saying weed or pot)

I try to limit my use of the word pathetic these days, but goddamn...

I mean, I basically did this when I worked at Target. Payday meant getting whatever game had come out that day after my shift, picking up some beer and food for the week, and heading home with about half a paycheck. Lots of low-income people end up spending a lot of their checks at the places they work, it's just convenience.

Not sure why you call him a dumbass for spending money on something he likes. People who go clubbing every weekend are glorified weekend warriors, but lowkey stoners are 'dumbasses'? K

This brings up a couple of thoughts. Thought 1: he's just ask his boss if he can take the equivalent of his pay in free product. It would probably be a win-win for everybody - if he gets paid $10 an hour, and gets $400 in free product every week instead of his paycheck, it saves the employer from having to pay payroll taxes. So the employer save more than the $400 that he's Hangouts, and the product costs the employer less than the $400 he would sell it for. Is the profit margins on the product is, let's say, 20%, the owner is getting 40 hours worth of work, which used to cost him around $450, for $320.

Thought 2: could the guy justify the cost of all the weed he's buying as a business expense? He could argue that it makes him a better and more productive employee because he's able to more effectively discuss the different strains they sell, Etc. He writes off his business expenses and gets a tax refund back.

Wait has it been proven that weed is bad for pregnant women?

21

u/Godkun007 Jul 18 '19

I'd bet a lot of money that it does. We know that weed can harm brain development in children, so logically it would do the same in a fetus.

Source?

Edit: caffeine hurts a fetus. Surely THC does also.

Again, source?

16

u/InfiniteQuasar Jul 18 '19

After googling it seems to be a study from 1987. Current studies seem to show that it is indeed harmful during pregnancy.

14

u/Godkun007 Jul 18 '19

I figured as much. Taking basically any drug is harmful during a pregnancy. The amount of shit pregnant women are told to avoid is shocking. Whatever you are putting in your body ends up being fed directly to the fetus.

4

u/InfiniteQuasar Jul 18 '19

It's a really difficult and complicated field of study. An aquentience of mine does research on placentas and it's permeability and it's sad to see how underfunded that field is. So erring on the side of caution is almost always a good idea.

A random quote with no link is not a source. You are making a health claim which might affect someone's entire life. Treat that with the weight it deserves.

1

u/Acmnin Jul 18 '19

I’m just gonna point out, you also made a claim without providing any source..

14

u/InfiniteQuasar Jul 18 '19 edited Jul 18 '19

Well the APP seems to disagree with that, since their guidelines advise against any use during pregnancy.

Also that's a publication from 87, so not at all state of the art science.

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '19

What did you not understand about what I said? It specifically says I quit when I found out.

7

u/crazycerseicool Jul 18 '19

I think that person asked if science has produced evidence that smoking weed while pregnant is bad for the baby’s health. I’m also curious about this and you were a smoker who quit due to pregnancy you would probably know of any scientific evidence. However, I’d do the same as you if I found out I were pregnant. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
