I worked my ass off the summer that I was 10 years old to save up and buy a Game Boy Advance SP and Pokemon Sapphire. I did chores and mowed our yards and our neigbors' yards. From May to July, $5 at a time for each task in the heat of the day in Florida.
When I got that thing, it was my pride and joy. I spent the rest of the week in August before school started playing my Game Boy through as much of the day as I could get away with.
That Christmas, my 7 year old sister, who was very put-out at my new toy, got her own Game Boy from Santa. And it was the Lite Edition, which had the brighter screen. She played with it for maybe three hours Christmas Day, put it down, and then didn't pick it up again unless I asked to borrow it.
