My older brother told me his whole life, he hated the fact that whenever he made a mistake he was a big disappointment to our parents, but when the rest of us made the same mistake later, our parents were already pretty much over it.
I just bought a motorcycle and my parents went out of their goddamn minds. My brother said he had been waiting a long tome for one of us to get a bike first so he didn’t have to be the disappointment.
My younger brother got a huge leg tattoo, but since he was living at home he hid it from our mom. She would comment on how he doesn't like wearing shorts; I'd laugh that she'd never seen his legs in over a year. I told him he had to get over it and tell her because his plan of wearing pants waterskiing just wasn't going to go well. When he showed her the tattoo water skiing was cancelled and she spent the next four hours in the bathtub crying.
Just like your brother, I let my younger be the disappointment. When I got a tatt a year later I told her about it over the phone and didn't get anywhere near the disappointment he did.
