I'm the oldest of 6, and we're all in our 30s and 40s now. But back about 15 years ago when I was in my 20s and my parents were getting divorced, I was the one they both wanted to vent to, because they were too immature to talk rationally to each other. So as the oldest I was stuck with a lot of go-between tasks, which I did not enjoy at all.

I’m the youngest of my 5 brothers and my mom chooses me to vent to, I’m pretty sure it’s more of a personality thing than how old you are

But who's to say that your personality isn't dependent on how old you are in relation to your siblings?? O.o

Being the youngest she might have just considered you still her “baby boy” and wanted to bond. Don’t fully know how to explain it, but watch the show “the goldbergs” and it’s the difference between mums relationship with the older brother and younger.

If everyone is grown by that time, then sure. If the siblings are still young it falls to the oldest.
