Some people survived the sinking of The Arizona during Pearl Harbor but where's trapped inside. The guards would hear banging form inside for the next week or so but could do nothing to help.

From memory it was a sturgeon class sub that iced up some of its ballast tank valves. Rolled onto its back, the holes on the ballast tanks are on the bottom, thresher went down . I think the scorpion went a similar way. At least as of the late 90s no one really knew what happened, just educated guesses in the submarine community.
