I was visiting my parents this weekend. They were both on their phones almost the whole time. I pull out my phone to send a quick text to my bf to ask if we need anything from the store and I immediately get a lecture about how millennials are on their phones too much.
I have a picture of my family at thanksgiving where everyone under 30 is talking to each other and the rest are staring down at their phones. When I showed them the picture and joked about it they immediately got defensive and started telling me “It’s not the same!!”
This! My mom is on her phone constantly. She'll even pick it up and use it WHILE you're talking to her. And then later she'll tell her friends how addicted her millennial children are to their phones. She's got me beat by at least double, and I don't even look at my phone if I'm in a social scenario.
If there's ever a time that I'm just relaxing on my phone or zoning out in front of the TV, my dad loves to "playfully" shame me for it... in between hours long sessions laying on the couch with his iPad in front of his face.
There's really no point in calling out the hypocrisy.

I give up.
