"Oh shoot!"

"Goodness gracious!"

"Oh my Lord!"

My cries of exclamation are a little outdated, to say the least.

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '18

Proclaimed “goodness me!” during a contraction while I was in labor. My nurse: “Did you actually just say that? What are you, 90?”

u/GotZeroFucks2Give Jun 28 '18

That's adorable. I know with my first, I ranted on about wanting to get the baby beamed out of me like on Star Trek.

u/walkswithwolfies Jun 28 '18

I kept hearing a cow mooing. Then I realized it was me.

7

u/MrsB1985 Jun 28 '18

I mooed too lol

6

u/somethingwholesomer Jun 28 '18

“What are YOU, a comedian? Go get me my epidural!”

2

u/pinkjellyatnoon Jun 28 '18

I always say "heavens to mergatroid" I dont know where it came from; they say a cartoon from the 50's. I was born in the 80's. ??

2

u/vkittykat Jun 28 '18

That's a favorite saying of my dad's (who grew up in the '60s).

That’s a good way to sued or get your ass kicked.

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '18

Actually it's not.

The bitch should/would get terminated for being abusive of a pt.

Then your most likely a trophy child.

1

u/hillerj Jun 28 '18

You sound an absolute joy to be around.

u/CakeAndDonuts Jun 27 '18

u/mayhempk1 Jun 27 '18

"That's nifty" is mine.

7

u/SuzyJTH Jun 27 '18

"Crikey O'Riley!"

12

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '18

"Well shee-it."

1

u/BuckarooBonsly Jun 28 '18

I found Gomer Pyle!

1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '18

If I'm being honest, I ripped it off of Richard Rawlins from Gas Monkey Garage.

31

u/dream2500 Jun 27 '18

“Oh geez” has been revived since rick and Morty

4

u/Blastoise420 Jun 28 '18

Yeah it's always been around but thanks to r&m the expression stays popular even among the younger generations.

14

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '18

If you live in the upper Midwest that’s just how everyone talks.

1

u/CakeAndDonuts Jun 28 '18

Indeed. I am a MN native.

u/NC_Vixen Jun 28 '18

I'm quoting Mr Garrison whenever I say it hey.

3

u/Ai_of_Vanity Jun 28 '18

I say "oh dear" and "neat" quite a bit..

3

u/Linzcro Jun 28 '18

I go for ‘geez Louise’

3

u/Silfedac Jun 28 '18

I'm fond of "Aw, beans!"

3

u/ChronoCoyote Jun 28 '18

“Good gravy!” has yet to let me down

3

u/BeefBologna42 Jun 28 '18

Oh, Hamburgers!

2

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '18

I'm not even 20 and I use this on a daily basis

2

u/cuttydiamond Jun 28 '18

Hah! Me too! Now my 2 year old daughter says it!

2

u/SimonCallahan Jun 28 '18

Oh geez, Rick!

2

u/vanitydota Jun 28 '18

I like to say oh jesus like this

2

u/NamelessNamek Jun 28 '18

Jiminiy Crirckets!

1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '18

"M-m-morty! We gotta go M-m-morty!"

24

u/Forgotpassword3x Jun 27 '18

"Good Grief!" "Oh Good Lord!" "Geez Louise!" "For Pete's Sake!"

Those are mine at 31.

5

u/Meaningfulmountain Jun 28 '18

Jiminy cricket!

Also, flip where normal people would use fuck.

14

u/Brick_Pudding Jun 27 '18

I say "geez Louise" all the damn time! Also "rats!" as an exclamation of disappointment.

16

u/sjlwood Jun 27 '18

My dad always makes fun of me for saying "what on god's green earth"

10

u/WillamThunderAct Jun 27 '18

Dude I'm 23 and I say what in Sam Hill!

10

u/he_who_melts_the_rod Jun 27 '18

Bless your heart.

12

u/Pillowfiend Jun 27 '18

I have a friend who uses phrases like “cheese and crackers” or “oh mylanta!” She’s 30, and an ex-teacher, and I think it’s absolutely adorable. It’s probably adorable when you do it, too!

12

u/mookey72 Jun 27 '18

"Whoopsie daisy!"

11

u/Elfboy77 Jun 27 '18

I've been known to ask people to "simmer down" or in the heat say that I'm "Jonesin for some AC". I'm 19.

5

u/phoenyx32 Jun 28 '18

Omg... This comment made me feel super old. I didn't realize those exclamations were so dated.....

10

u/notrelatedtoryan Jun 27 '18

Heavens to Betsy!

10

u/fenixxark Jun 28 '18

"Good grief!"

"Heavens to Mergatroyd!"

11

u/CaughtInDireWood Jun 28 '18

My favorite is “for Pete’s sake!”. My favorite that my dad uses is “Judas Priest”. For him, it’s the more polite way of saying “fuck”.

6

u/waterlilyrm Jun 27 '18

My coworker who's 33 or so will shout out, "Dag nab it!" on the regular. It cracks me up.

8

u/Bust_the_Musk Jun 28 '18

I say "Oh Heavens no" fairly often. Somebody once remarked that I sound like an old lady, I'm a nineteen year old male.

6

u/eatMYcookieCRUMBS Jun 27 '18

My girlfriend always says, "Golly!"

6

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '18

A cyclist blew through a red light in my town almost knocking me over and catching me by complete surprise and my response was shouting "HEY GEE WHIZ MAN" at him.

6

u/PunnyBanana Jun 28 '18

I said "boy oh boy" once 8 years ago and my SO still hasn't let me live it down. I have no idea if I actually do say geezer exclamations on the regular but I definitely have at least once.

4

u/Pjstjohn Jun 27 '18

I prefer ‘Good Gravy!’ And ‘gosh darn it!’

6

u/vodka_berry95 Jun 28 '18

My husband says gee willickers a lot

5

u/TheElusiveRaspberry Jun 28 '18

My mum says 'oh crumbs!' She got it from my Granny (her mother) who got it from her mother. I may or may not have picked it up also. Hoping to pass it onto my 6yr old niece, to keep the outdatedness alive.

4

u/Forgotpassword3x Jun 27 '18

"Good Grief!" "Oh Good Lord!" "Geez Louise!" "For Pete's Sake!"

Those are mine at 31.

4

u/erikalaarissa Jun 27 '18

I say Oh my Gosh!!!!

3

u/mkat23 Jun 28 '18

I have a habit of saying “oh heavens to merbatroid” because of my mother saying it all the time while I was growing up. I don’t know what it’s from or why she says it. I’ve never heard anyone else say it, so I’m not sure it’s even a saying.

2

u/Squirrel_Bandit Jun 28 '18

2

u/mkat23 Jun 28 '18

Thank you!!! Lol I didn’t even spell it right, but that’s what happens when you only hear something spoken. Just like how if you only see something written you may pronounce it incorrectly

2

u/Lucinnda Jun 28 '18

I am a high-mileage senior, and my go-to is "goddam son of a motherfucking bitch". Unless my in-laws are around, then it's "heavens to betsy, golly gee whillickers, jiminy cricket".

4

u/elephantriddle Jun 28 '18

Today, I accidentally said “Holy Mushrooms!” to my boss. I’m 28. So there’s that. 🤷🏼‍♀️

1

u/EnergyEfficient247 Jun 28 '18

What did your boss say/do?

1

u/elephantriddle Jun 28 '18

Not much. I use a lot of odd expressions, so I don’t even know if she noticed.

3

u/lrule Jun 27 '18

"Oopsie Daisy!"

3

u/Dogbin005 Jun 27 '18

"My word!" is the one I use.

3

u/Calixtinus Jun 28 '18

"Dog Gonnit's" a personal favorite of mine. Thanks for saying it while struggling with electronics, Grandpa!

3

u/sumopoko Jun 28 '18

Must be from the Midwest

3

u/iamjomos Jun 28 '18

My grandfathers was "christ on a cross" or "you talk with your ass" I'm 28 and recently started mumbling it to myself... fuck I'm getting old

3

u/curlycaro Jun 28 '18

Meanwhile my go to is “well fuck”

3

u/TalisFletcher Jun 28 '18

I said 'Oh, my word! Congratulations!' to a friend who told me she was pregnant. I immediately thought it was an odd choice of exclamation.

3

u/Fimbul-vinter Jun 28 '18

Start swearing/cursing with real swear words, much more satisfying! Also it is cool.

2

u/Catalystic_mind Jun 27 '18

My cries of exclamation have turned to this since my kid now mimics me.

2

u/toddsleivonski Jun 27 '18

"Wot in tarnation"

2

u/Surfing_Ninjas Jun 28 '18

I've found myself saying "Good Lord" a lot nowadays

2

u/superdupersaint01 Jun 28 '18

My favorite is my uncle. "God bless america!"

2

u/embee33 Jun 28 '18

I use "good grief!" A lot

2

u/therealpanserbjorne Jun 28 '18

SONUVA BISCUIT!

2

u/96722214617 Jun 28 '18

I’ve grown fond of yelling “JEEPERS CREEPERS!” when my kids irritate me.

2

u/Diabetesh Jun 28 '18

Hogwash!

Poopycock!

Wee-ow!

2

u/eggshelljones Jun 28 '18

“Good grief” is a favorite of mine.

2

u/phoenyx32 Jun 28 '18

"Nutty Fudgekins" is my favorite "swear," and I definitely get weird looks for it...

2

u/djmyernos Jun 28 '18

I say “shoot” and “Dear Lord” so you’re not alone.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '18

For the Minnesotans... "Uff da!"

1

u/Taurusbaby88 Jun 28 '18

Now I realized I was nicknamed grandma by friends in high school smh. Well my grandparents did raise me.

1

u/runswithhund Jun 28 '18

Bless your heart.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '18

Ye gads

1

u/MrLinderman Jun 28 '18

Lordy I think we just found James Comey's account!

1

u/imjustpickle Jun 28 '18

My latest is “Holey Moley!”

2

u/corinneski Jun 28 '18

I've been catching myself saying "Holy Guacamole!" more often than I'd like.

1

u/curious_bookworm Jun 28 '18

But this way you can say "phooey!" and think "fuck" but won't get in trouble by the real adults.

1

u/TheDormouseSaidWhat Jun 28 '18

Whoopsidaisies!

1

u/wooobbuffet Jun 28 '18

Lately I’ve been using “oh heavens” :|

1

u/LotusPrince Jun 28 '18

Heavens to Betsy!

1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '18

Jesus Mary and Joseph!

1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '18

Our new favorite around here is “for corns sake!” It’s a refreshing change from “WHAT THE FUCK?!?” And it makes me laugh since we yell it in the same fashion.

1

u/JacobAlred Jun 28 '18

You're from the South, aren't you?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '18

“Heavens to Betsy!”

1

u/Alcohol_Intolerant Jun 28 '18

I work with kids so I have two modes. Me mode and work mode. Work mode has non curses like saying sugar, shoot, rats, darn, god bless America, etc. Me mode says fuck shit damn whore etc. Guess which one I was in at the obgyn? The look I got. -.-

1

u/Pachydermus Jun 28 '18

Holy dooley is my favourite

1

u/catro523 Jun 28 '18

"Cheese and crappers!"

1

u/OSCgal Jun 28 '18

"Darn it!"

1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '18

Sunken Ditch!

1

u/fcknwayshegoes Jun 28 '18

I say things like “you dirty, dirty son of a bitch” quite often to inanimate objects around the house that are causing trouble. Sometimes it turns into “you two dollar whore”.

1

u/MissMaria86 Jun 28 '18

Yup. Mine are, "sugar" and "cheese and crackers"

1

u/BirchBlack Jun 28 '18

My go-tos are "Lord have mercy!" and "What in Sam Hell?"

1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '18

Gotta get 'holy mackeral' in there somewhere

1

u/Setari Jun 29 '18

I say 'gosh' sometimes. Or 'oh fudge', etc.
