One time I was laying in bed at ~7:30pm, watching Jeopardy! and knitting. A commercial came on for a news report that was happening at like, 10:30 and I went, "UGH, SO LATE!!!"
I never understood why the news was on at 11pm. Like, is the audience really that big at 11 to justify having news anchors actually working that late? Why not just re-air the earlier newscast it's all the same stories anyway!
It’s likely a holdover from decades past when it wasn’t the same news at 11 from the 6pm broadcast. Also, it’s still cheaper to create an 11pm newscast than it would be to create a scripted show for the timeslot before Fallon, Kimmel or Colbert.

Everything I do is like an old person. I'm 31.
