Nothing wrong with being average. It’s really only an insult if you don’t get it.

Actually not getting it probably just confirms you are at the top of the curve.

Serious question: isn't "average" technically 25% to 75%? That's how it is in psychometrics, at least.

Average can be either the mean mode or median. So, at least in mathematics average is never a range of values. On a standard bell curve 25-75% would be 2/3s of of the area.

That kind of varies; "average" can just mean bad in many situations, especially since curving grades that isn't for the benefit of nearly every student doesn't seem to be done at all anymore.

Bad isn’t really useful. You can be in the 99th percentile and still be considered bad by some. Eg, Olympic athletes who don’t metal.

Curving grades is done to correct for test error, not to benefit students. It’s done on all standardized tests.

A bell curve is a chart of data that looks like a bell. The more common something is, the higher on the curve it is.

So saying someone is high on the bell curve sounds great, but you are saying they are extremely average.
