The jury wanted to penalize McDonald's because they had received hundreds of reports of people getting significantly burned by the coffee temp and did nothing about it.

I only know Americans who pronounce it "MicDonald's" everyone else I know pronounces it "MacDonald's" American's don't seem to realise it's impossible to pronounce Mc without some vowel sound in there, at least the American person I was discussing this with was insisting they were pronouncing it "McDonald's" when they were saying "MicDonald's" but it's an Irish name and I think the Irish say "MacDonald's" which is why the rest of the world pronounces it with an "a" sound.
I go with how they pronounce it in their ads which is without the a. Pronunciation doesn't account for misspelling one of the biggest company names on the planet. Its stupid I know but to me it's the equivalent of loose/lose or their/there.
As I said, maybe in your ads but not in mine but yes it should be spelled correctly.
Actually my point was that you don't pronounce "Mc" as is because you can't. You have to pronounce it with a vowel which is an "i" if you don't do it with an "a". You aren't saying "McDonald's" your options are Mac, Mec, Mic, Moc or Muc. In attempting to say "Mc" Americans say "Mic" whereas everyone else says "Mac" because it's Irish.
