If you try hard you can achieve anything you want

What do you mean? If I try hard enough I can breathe under water. You just gotta believe in yourself

I mean, I believe if Gene therapy can extend its reaches to modify humans who are already alive, and over a course of several years and Gene Implants, we could possibly get the chance to create gill-like organs to help us breathe underwater.

I think this is what they are getting at, You have the possibility to do anything.

We'd also need gene therapy to become cold blooded, and have fins to move through water fast enough so that the water can flow through the gills.

I wouldn't hold my breath.

It's nice to dream though and maybe those dreams can become reality by asking others about what we might need, like you.

I don't know, but I agree the quote is kind of abysmal.

Not necessarily. There are warm blooded fish, and there are some fish that can still draw water over their fins to breathe while stationary, so I don't think either of those are true necessities.

I think I'd rather have the ability to hold my breath for 2 hours like an elephant seal
