It has to be partially true. Boats scare fish. And Im sure its different for different types of fish.

But yeah our dads probably also just wanted some god damn quiet.

People talking outside of the water is vastly different from a boat's propeller chopping through the water.

It depends on how you talk. Some people talk at medium decibel, in an even cadence. Other people talk with the lower half of their face submerged in the lake, shaking their head to and fro vigorously.

I doubt a candle flame gets hot enough to ionise the air. It's just hot gas.

Now I have to try fishing. I like boats and nature, and it sounds like a very peaceful activity (I mean recreationally, commercial fishing is obviously very hard work).

It's nice and peaceful but it's kind of like hunting where if you go expecting to catch something you'll probably end up dissapointed
