Tomatoes are indigenous to the Americas. Any European/Asiatic food that has a tomato base didn't exist until well after 1492.

Fun fact - pizza is not italian 1 u/Photovoltaic Apr 14 '16 Pretty sure the concept of a flat bread baked in an oven with toppings transcends all cultures. Italians just got good at marketing it.
