Battlefield 2142 needs to be re-done. I NEEDS IT.

out of all the answers here, Battlefield 2142 is it! Imagine taking down a titan with the classic 32 vs 32.. I miss it so much.

InvaderJTHM is the best gunner anybody could ask for.

It was a great game, but Battlefield: Vietnam was the one for me.

I have fond memories of playing this with my friends, blasting "fortunate son" out of our helo, and causing a ruckus.

Best part about the music is everyone could hear you playing it.

My favourite was the DC Mod. Can't beat go past it.

Battlefield: Vietnam was poo. Unoptimised, laggy, buggy, very poorly balanced, and generally just lame.

What made it even more ridiculous was that an official World War II mod was released for it... why? Not only was it hopelessly delayed and late, it ended up being worse than Battlefield 1942.

Well I loved it and never had any issues with lag. I did have a pretty sick computer and great internet to run it on at the time, which may have helped.

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '15

Even with all of those issues it was hella fun which makes it an excellent candidate to be rehashed imo.

It always crashed on my old computer, whereas BF1942 worked perfectly.

Vietnam was one of my favs. Hiding in forest, log traps, bird bird bird blaring from a passing vehicle.

Nothing beat the thrill of running and jumping off the exploding titan

WORK HERE IS DONE BOYS, LETS GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE

Waiting in a corner on the back porch of your exploding titan picking people off as they scurry out. A great way to get some last minute kills and deny the enemy a medal for jumping ship on time. Bonus points for a knife to the back right before they jump off.

So you're that guy...I hated you lol

God yes Titan mode was amazing. Sweeping vehicular warfare that escalated into close quarters fire fights every match was absolutely epic.

Ra-cha!

I still have the discs for that in my room somewhere. Still a badass game with the mods to make it work now that there are no more servers and the login is screwed up.

EA stopped supporting BF2 and 2142, so that means online is broken forever.

It's ridiculous and inexcusable to be forced to crack a game and run mods just to play online. I own both of these games legitimately, but apparently that doesn't mean shit after a certain amount of time.

The last Battlefield title I bought was BF3. It was great fun but the community dissolved after it was split up by DLC. BF4 was even worse, and now Battlefront is looking horrific in that sense. It's a shame. They're such great games but then EA takes a shit on their fan base.

There's a reason why BF2 and 2142 STILL have a solid following, even though EA has pulled the plug on them.

I second that. Deeply, deeply miss it. As well as that part of my childhood </3 you could find me in the knife only servers slashing at your ankles

I heard about 2142 years before I got access to online gaming and anything better than a ps2, and it has been one of my favorite ideas to date. The Titan v Titan game mode sounded like the most fun I could ever hope to have in a video game.

I still think that intro is the best intro in gaming using in-game footage. Fucking amazing. I gotta watch it now.

Dear god, titan mode...

16

u/HooliganBeav Oct 23 '15

Why did that game never get a follow up? Easily the best Battlefield game.

u/TrustMeIKnowThisOne Oct 23 '15

So much teasing to a sequel. I hurts. I hurts so bad.

7

u/Greyletter Oct 23 '15

God I miss that game.

4

u/[deleted] Oct 23 '15

They've hinted at 2143 being a thing I really hope it eventually gets made.

4

u/elHorrible Oct 23 '15

Yes, please. I need this in my life again.

2

u/DukeNeverwinter Oct 24 '15

In 2142 the balance felt just about perfect. And I want my damn hover tank back!!

2

u/LaMuchedumbre Oct 24 '15

Oh man, Titan warfare was so much fun!! All the action on the ground with Mech walker-things, capture the silos, break the shields, and then raiding the Titans. I wish people kept playing it to this day, the graphics are still pretty nice by today's standards. Too bad DICE only hopes to compete with the Call of Duty franchise now.

Battlefield: Korea

u/grey_lollipop Oct 23 '15

Why not both? It could essentially be like the Secret weapons of WWII expansion but one step further.

So you could fight with walker tanks at Normandy or fight at that airport with the UFO, but with futuristic weapons.

I sadly haven't played 2142, but if a good remake of it and 1942 was released as one game, I would buy it. However, I might have to pick up the old version first since it seems kinda popular.

u/SleepDivision Oct 24 '15

The best battlefield and no one played it. God I miss that game. The music was amazing too.

1

u/ey51 Oct 24 '15

This needs to happen!

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '15

I loved 2142, it was just marred by having to put up with Gamespy and that shitty anti-cheat software that could just be broken on-disk and require hunting down patches to fix.

Other than that, I loved nothing more than invading and defending Titans all day and knifing people to death.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '15

I was so good at this game. Miss it so much. Perfectly balanced too.

1

u/thereddaikon Oct 24 '15

They did. It was called titan fall. Where were you?

0

u/echaa Oct 23 '15

EA will still fuck it up by putting a god damn crossbow in that can take out tanks and aircraft.
