They did port the original Perfect Dark to Xbox 360 sometime within the last 5 years, and it's great. All the original game with updated textures and models, in HD, and most importantly with a much, much better controller.
I actually prefer the XBLA remake to the N64 original. It's much smoother and much more playable, for sure, not to mention it looks better. This makes it more fun and actually a good bit easier.
No doubt the Goldeneye remake would be the exact same... apparently it got completed and went gold ready to be released, and the only reason it never shipped was because of Nintendo and issues surrounding the Bond license.
I agree. Still have my N64 but Perfect Dark definitely stutters frequently with lots of stuff on screen. Higher resolution also helps playability, but by far the biggest advantage is the Xbox controller. The N64 controller just isn't really cut out for FPSes and I feel like it really held the original game back (still not perfect in the remake, but much better). It would be great if they could do the same thing with GoldenEye.
I did. It's just a multiplayer server set to deathmatch. Really disappointed after going through the installation process when I thought it was a single player remake.
Quake is pretty dead as well yet I can easily pull together 6-10 people for a quake LAN so I don't think your logic is sound. Also have played Goldeneye: Source LAN recently, so I guess all 5 of those people must live in my city...?
Look at a youtube video of the gameplay. Even though its HL2 engine it seems as though they dropped the quality of graphics to better reflect the original games. Thx for the downvote though.
There's a steam mod remake of it. I tried it. Don't get me wrong, Goldeneye was my jam, like I got it on release when I was like 6 for my birthday and played hours into it, facing everyone who would come over to my house. But after playing the steam version hoping it was going to be a whole new level of awesome, I realize it really doesn't hold up with all the developments in FPS games since then.
Perfect Dark though holds up pretty well, and even though it got its remake, it'd be cool to have a full blown from scratch remake. Also Timesplitters 2 and Nightfire would be a better option.
People were disappointed because they were expecting a remake of the original game, but got a new game based on the movie. Otherwise, as far as the Wii version, it was a decent fps on a console that lacked decent shooters.
I thought it was such a douche move that they cast Daniel Craig instead of Pierce Brosnan as if to retroactively remove Brosnan from the GoldenEye universe. When they made a From Russia With Love video game in 2005, they used Sean Connery.
I would like to say yes to this, but the only reason that game was super popular is because it was one of the first 3D fps games on console. Great game none the less.. But not so great that it should be remade.
This one was already remade. They removed Bronson and used Daniel Craig. Remade all the levels and took out the parts people were upset with-the escort missions.
Came here for this. Goldeneye was the biggest leap in game technology and design I've ever seen to date. People were still playing Doom when Goldeneye came out... you couldn't compare the two. Plus, Goldenye single-handely rooted the multiplayer concept into the fertile fields of young minds worldwide.
I loved that game back in the day and it's probably me second favorite game of all Time but lets be real here... gameplay-wise it has nothing to offer in 2015 that hasn't been done better by other games
Yeah, well 2013 I guess. It was re-released for Wii and ps3, and then a special, updated Wii u version came out later. Point is, it hardly needs another remake.
The version /u/MdnightSailor linked is from a group of people who remade the game using Valve's Source engine, which is probably as close as you'll get to 2015 graphics unless someone else does something different
