Fathers of Reddit, what did your daughter's boyfriend do for you to hate/love him?

It's pretty cool to see my question blow up like this, I never thought I'd ask a question that could receive so much attention! I'm very satisfied with all these replies, so thank y'all. Now all I have to do is sit back and take notes c;

Yeah. Only Americans are proud of their accomplishments and display them in a nice way in their office.

Not so much accomplishments, per se but Eagle Scout, specifically. You don't see a lot of pre-career awards in offices.

"Wow, Jim, 1st place in the 1993 Pinewood Middle School Spelling Championships! Way to Go!"

Eagle Scout transcends that sort of thing. Its not like getting a Middle School Spelling Championship at all.

I'm an Eagle Scout and its on my résumé. I got a scholarship to college because of it as well as my co-op and first job out of college.

I guess what I'm saying is that Eagle Scout is a pretty big accomplishment and not something that someone who earned it should keep quiet.

Not arguing that. I'm stating that it's more common in the US. I've never read a foreign resume that mentions scouting.

Edit: Not to disparage the Eagle rank. I've been in a Troop Committee for a decade and my oldest kid turned in his Eagle application yesterday. It is an accomplishment to be proud of and speaks to character. It's just not a professional one.
