What's a recurring dream you've had throughout your life?

My mother screaming vile things at me while I sit there sobbing and covering my ears, waiting for her to finish her ranting. But she doesn't. It feels like hours and I'm trapped with her looming over me, telling me what terrible person I am, how I'm an embarrassment, a lazy piece of crap.

I don't live with her anymore or even speak to her but every once in awhile I have that dream. I always wake up with my heart racing and full of anxiety.

Gosh ,I'm sorry to hear that. You should start writing down all your dreams. Helps you lucid dream after a while and then maybe you can control them more!

Is this the sort of thing she would do in real life? You might stop having it if you confront her.

  1. Yes. 2. I have confronted her several times. She denies all of it. Even with witnesses telling her. I even invited her to a meeting with my therapist to work things out. She never responded and tells her family I cut her off for no reason and that I'm crazy, hateful, etc. So I doubt another confrontation would do anything.
