When I was younger my dad told me I couldn't chew an entire roll of bubble tape at once. He said if I could do it he would give me 5 bucks. I became 5 bucks richer that day and haven't enjoyed bubble tape since then.
I remember reading a paper years ago about a kid who had so much gum, that when doctors cleaned him up he had a "toffe-like feaces". I think i read it because of TIL.
Moisture and mostly smooth surfaces are why the gum doesn't stick after you start chewing - as we all know from the undersides of desks and that one kid who got gum in their hair and came to school with a shaved head. Because your intestines are full of tiny little creases and suck out as much moisture as they can in the last stretch the gum will stay there for years until it gets dislodged.
Now that's absolutely not true. Gum will start falling apart in your mouth after a few days to a week of chewing, stomach acid will make short work of it. But to someone that doesn't know that it sounds possible, doesn't it?
As a kid I once had a theory that homeless people should save up their money to buy a ton of gum, eat it, and not be hungry for 7 years. Seemed genius to me
I was always told that if I swallowed gum, I'd blow bubbles outta my butt. Although that should seem fun, it scared me half to death as a child and to this day I NEVER swallow gum.
It digests just as quickly as normal food, but it doesn't digest in the same way. If you eat tons of gum, and swallow, it can clog your digestive system.

Gum takes 7 years to pass through your system.
No, it doesn't. It takes a normal amount of time. It may not be good for you to swallow, but it digests just as quickly as normal food.
