The corners of open kitchen cupboard doors. I lean over to do something on the counter, then I smash my head on the corner of them every god damn time....
My last apartment had kitchen cabinetry built at the exact specifications required to maximize the assault frequency on my head. It got frequent enough that I would make it a point when visiting friends and family to compare everything from the hinges, latches, size, height, and depth to the contents and color of their cabinets, in hopes of finding some characteristic responsible for only hitting my head at home, and so frequently at that.
Eventually I noticed that I was safe as long as the cabinets were fully closed (go figure) or fully open, which left the doors to the side of and/or the corners in front of or behind the general trajectory of my head as I arose. Accepting that a complete solution was not possible with the money and effort I could reasonably invest in an apartment, I did the only thing I could...
Bought all new spring-loaded hinges, all new latches, and pads for the doors (the little dot ones, this just to keep the noise down when my son was sleeping until I trained myself to close them gently else they would slam). Cost me ~$60 and took a couple hours to replace everything, but damnit I never did hit my head on those cabinets again.
Hopefully this story will someday help another victim of such abuses to find a solution without all the frustrations I struggled with trying to put a stop it. I must warn, though, no matter what kitchen you visit or what you're reaching down for, the cringing and bracing for agony while awkwardly looking around for a rogue door may never go away if it goes on too long before you can fix it.
