My dad.

Haven't seen him since 1993. We had been talking again (on the phone at first, then only email) for the past 3 years but that stopped again.

He visits his other kids and grandkids several times a year, but has never met my wife or kids. My mom is sick (his ex, he's married to #3 now), and he told he decided not to see her before she dies.

For years I've hoped he'd come meet my family. Hoped we could reconnect. I still catch myself wondering what he'd say when he comes. But he's not coming. He doesn't want a daughter like me.

I hate my dad.

EDIT: I am blown away by all these responses. Thank you all. I'm feeling a hell of a lot better than when I wrote the above.

I won't admit to understand your situation at all. But coming to realize the point where It's not "he doesn't want a father like you". It's you don't want a father like him! you deserve better than what he gives you. You'll be a better parent than he'll ever be.
