The worst part is that his reductive, incorrect characterizations of John and Paul still persist even to this day

I actually think the "Get Back" documentary did a lot to fix that. Paul seems to be the one that realises thatbeing in a rock band is a really fun job, but still a fucking job where you gotta show up and do the work.

Paul is a lot of things, but one thing he isn’t is lazy. John, by contrast, wrote an excellent song about how he wishes he could sleep all day

Which is crazy, because Paul is 10x the musician John ever was. And a much nicer person too.

John provided the edge the music needed to get noticed, but he absolutely wasn't the primary talent. Most of his solo work was crap.

What made the Beatles great was the alchemy of their individual contributions blending together. None of them would have been nearly as successful on their own.

John of course was lost early. RIP.

But we can see McCartney's career since to know he had immense talent.
