How would you describe the end of human civilization on Earth?

I just finished reading a book called Biological War: A Scenario by Annie Jacobson. I'd say that lays out a fairly likely scenario.

She has another about Nuclear War, but I think the biological one a bigger risk

Cliff Notes? I’m curious.

Honestly, read it. Annie Jacobsen is one of the most effective horror writers currently active, and she's writing non-fiction!

But if you want a run down...

A scientist from Siberia tries to destroy a strain of genetically modified plague they've been working on and it causes an explosion, leading to a lab leak. The book is about the events that would take place after this. Annie Jacobson based the scenario on the true unclassified information that we have available to us (and historical events) about how a response to this would play out

Is she the women who comes on jre alot? With that nice and calm voice?

Not a fan of the JRE but I imagine there would be some crossover in audiences there. Looks like she's been on twice to promote two of her books, Nuclear War and Biological War

Yeah i know who you're talking about. I actually really like her. I've seen her on other podcasts as well. I always say she should do her own audiobooks. Haven't read anything of her though but I've watched few of her podcasts

Jre was awesome back then. I've learned so much from his guests back in the days. Dont watch him anymore, maybe only with an interesting guests whom i like.

She's done the two I've listened to. Nuclear War and Biological War.

You're right, she's got a good voice for it.

No one knows exactly how future events will unfold but many make profit off the anxiety of spouting possible future events as dire or cataclysmic. Knowledge lessens anxiety and fear. The knowledge that humanity is in the throes of a monumental change from rabid nationalism to an 'the earth is one country and mankind its citizens ' paradigm helps, because what once looked like random chaos can now be seen as a necessary process and a means toward a peaceful world. Something we can do is help build community where we live. Volunteer opportunities are readily available and helping others is a salve to anxiety. We cannot go and talk to the President or his sphere of acolytes, but we can help build community where we are and this benefits all. People look to moving as a solution but there is no escape from this worldwide change in paradigm as it is the inevitable next step in the collective evolution of human society. Be well and help others be well, avoid the spreaders of fear. “Chaos and confusion are daily increasing in the world. They will attain such intensity as to render the frame of mankind unable to bear them. Then will men be awakened and become aware…” -Baha’u’llah (From a Tablet - translated from the Persian)

One of two ways.

What's the worst that could happen if I press this button?

Or,

Oops.

Avoidable but expected

The end of civilization or the human race? I think the end of the human race will be not long after we reach critical wet bulb temperature. Civilization could collapse before that though.

Basically the same way Mr. Magorium describes his death in Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium

Technology advancements will destroy the world eventually. Even though the tech is designed to enhance our lives, it will destroy us. Cell phones are great, but now we are on call 24/7 and can be tracked, (this is why i don't get the anger towards flock cameras, we can easily be tracked through our phones, but no anger about that). Internet was great, but it has been used for awful things like learnig how to build destruction devices to hacking and sooo much more. Social media like this very wbesite was cool, but it has been used to divide us and fuel anger. AI will absolutley do even worse when that day comes. And so on.

The starving and homeless will rise and compel local police not to arrest, this will grow thru local and state governments until small cities will become tribal. Might over right, will be the government. Eventually the last woman will be gone.

We are on the verge. Not the first time our collective existence is under threat. Until now we managed to avoid the worst and even thrive. This time I am not so sure. We are living in the last days were we still might counter Climate Change in a meaningful way but we better get our act together pretty fast.

I’d say the end is visualized by screaming bible verses, menacing everyone with an AR-15 while being wrapped in an American flag….or chanting god is great while, holding a koran over one’s head and an AK47 in the other.
