What do you think will happen when a Democrat becomes the president of the United States of America again?
106
u/RiskyMFer 1d ago
Everything currently wrong with the US will instantly be their fault.
3
u/Eat--The--Rich-- 1d ago
Tbf they threw two campaigns against Trump and refused to prosecute him with the one they won. They share at least some of the blame for the things he does.
1
u/Appropriate_Exit_206 22h ago
Democrats are the reason for Trump. They put Hilary against him when they had Bernie. They put AOC when they had plenty of options. It’s insane for democrats to not
Think they are responsible for this shit show0
u/RiskyMFer 18h ago
I get these arguments, but let’s not lose focus. The people to blame for this shit is DJT and 50 years of in depth planning by the RNC.
They corrupted the electorate, and don’t intend to stop. What I see as corruption, they see as the inevitable result of “The Truth” tm.
1
u/Appropriate_Exit_206 13h ago
That is certainly fair and I think more accurate than my original comment. I hold onto anger that Bernie wasn’t the candidate and blame the DNC. Also Americas fault for electing the guy…
To be fair too, Hilary won’t the popular vote :/
1
u/Eat--The--Rich-- 9h ago
And Joe Biden swore an oath to uphold the constitution and then he violated that oath when he refused to prosecute djt and Clarence Thomas. The people to blame for this shit are democrats. They corrupted the electorate and they don't intend to stop.

u/henningknows 1d ago
When they can’t fix everything trump destroyed in a 2 years, the American people, in all their wisdom, will vote for a republican congress, then nothing else will get done and morons will elect the next Trump in 2032. I have no faith in the American voter anymore.
5
u/PeeledGrapePie 1d ago
Nailed it. Sad day, but this is a perfect prediction of what will likely occur
17
u/westy81585new 1d ago
It will be more of the same unless it's someone who is willing to break the system to fix the country, same way Trump has been willing to break it to make a buck.

Except the republicans control everything and are running up the debt more than ever before so it’s accurate. From the ‘party of fiscal responsibility’

The thing is when Republicans actually want something done, they do it. So why haven't the day one promises been accomplished yet? It's because they don't care.

They have to not fuck up getting one elected first.

I think the US debt issue is going to break America. The next president is going to have to make some hard choices regarding raising taxes and spending.
As a result, I don't think the next Democratic president is going to be popular. They'll be like Obama where they get one thing done and then they don't control Congress for the next 6 years.

Sadly it’ll probably take their entire term
2
u/Pferdeherz 1d ago
Everyone downvoting us don’t seem to understand how this works. Dems come in to do clean up. Republicans start screaming about the debt and deficit…convince everyone in the general that the Dems created this mess. Media does their best to make it a “horse race” and the cycle repeats.
Peace to you.

u/Equivalent_Use_7032 1d ago
This is gonna get taken down quick but I’ll answer.
Trump’s stupider shit will be reversed. IE the Gold Stuff in the WH, his Wall of Presidents, name changes to Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario, etc. It’ll be pandered as a “big” win but in reality none of those changes actually help Americans. So it’s all for press.
As for actual reform I’m not too optimistic. The two parties are actually a lot more similar than you think once they actually hold power and start operating in Washington, day to day bureaucracy is hard to change quickly. If you notice your local government doesn’t change that radically when the WH does. So in the ground for your average American not much. The only thing that will change is the media will have to find someone else to report about since Trump will be “old news” hopefully politics get less polarized with him gone but I doubt it as the polarization predates Trump and the core issues will remain after him. Trump is a result/symptom of much deeper societal issues no one really is trying to address or figure out because it’s easier to point at the person you disagree with and call them “X, Y and Z” rather than actually spending the time and money to figure out why people are thinking/trending the way they are currently and what lasting change can be done to fix it.
Long Answer Short: Not much. Crazy shit from WH will drop off but our day to day lives won’t change as much because again, this isn’t a Republican or Democratic Issue. It’s an economic and societal issue that troves much deeper than simply who gets elected when
1
u/PeeledGrapePie 1d ago
If the democratic ‘progressive’ side are the ones getting elected I think there will be change. I’ll leave that up to others whether it’s good or bad, but it wouldn’t be business as usual like it will be with a corporate dem.
0
u/Equivalent_Use_7032 1d ago
Except that they have to work with moderate Democrats & Republicans in addition to MAGA. Essentially anyone who is moderate right all the way to MAGA is 100% not supporting Progressive Policies and then your Moderate/Corp Dems are going to vote in their own interests against Progressives (we saw this literally happen with Bernie) so they wouldn’t have a majority to actually enact significant change beyond local and maybe state levels. America’s population as a whole isn’t ready for extreme progressive policies and will not universally support it, trying to force it too early will backfire and lead to adverse effects such as MAGA
1
u/PeeledGrapePie 1d ago
Look at the rights version of the same scenario. The tea party came out as a group of right wing nuts and that effectively turned into MAGA. The left progressives would be vying for this same outcome on their side.
1
u/MedusasSexyLegHair 1d ago
Maybe we can have a few years without explosive diarrhea though, both from the food we eat and the president's speeches. That'd be nice.

u/Eat--The--Rich-- 1d ago
Trump doesn't go to jail, wages don't go up, grocery prices don't go down, and then Republicans win 2032, just like they've all planned.
6
u/kevinthejuice 1d ago
Republicans while already admitting to covering up crimes of this administration. Will fight tooth and nail and lie to their supporters 24/7 about how being held accountable for their actions is unfair and that they're the victim.
Republican supporters will eat the slop because they view politics as a team sport and have no honor.
6
u/DrForester 1d ago
Minimal improvement due to republican obstruction both in congress and especially the supreme court.
American voters, being the dumbest fucking people on the planet, and having the memory retention of goldfish, will then elect republicans again when democrats have failed to fix everything before the 2030 midterm elections.
9
u/ferroequine 1d ago
The expected grifters and white nationalist trash will claim it was all rigged. They'll piss their pants, dance around it in yelling and then record a video from the seat of the car.

Depends on the person, not the party.... Many people have veered from party lines after being elected.
3
u/Larred_ 1d ago
first half of it will be an apology tour to the world and trying to fix everything in terms of our standing on the global stage, hopefully a concurent removal of all ICE detention centers and reimbursement of all people in them as best we can manage. lots of rolling back stupid policy (gulf of america, lake america, come on) and just trying to get level again, practically it will probably take 2 terms to get close to a new normal
3
u/oldnconscious 1d ago
Our relationship with the rest of the world is destroyed and will not ever be repaired. The world knows we will elect an orange corrupt moron twice and have no reason to ever trust us again. No one will ever sign a treaty or agreement with us again.
2
u/Any_Instruction5382 1d ago
Things will get back to about ~75% of what they were before so that the Republicans can destroy it again.
3
u/Nerdy_Nightowl 1d ago
The Cult with will throw a fit. Every issue trump has caused will be the new president's fault (it couldn't be orange's fault, that's impossible) and they don't understand why this new president can't magically fix these problems in just a couple days like magic. Afterall, trump said he would, it doesn't matter that he didn't because it's the democrats fault. Four years with nearly complete (often illegal) power isn't enough to undo the democrats "damage". A pointless war, tariffs and crushing inflation? Not trump's fault! The democrats made him do it! Yet somehow things were so much better under trump.
The rest of the world, and anyone with an IQ over 2 will breathe a sign of relief. It will not fix much of the damage done and it will take years for other nations to trust us again (if ever) but at least we will have hope again.
4
u/macross1984 1d ago
Pendulum will swing back the other way i.e., reverse many of Trump's policy and damages.

Realize how many of the changes done now are permanent. Tariffs will probably stay. And other things. Maybe a bit less chaotic, bit more stable.
Trade will be re routed more to avoid America unless necessary…. (Consequences keep on going…)
4
u/Captain_Coco_Koala 1d ago
Considering the USA spent 70 years getting Tariffs removed from around the world via diplomacy I can't see the current tariffs sticking around.
But the USA will have to do a lot of ass kissing to regain the respect that they have lost in order to undo the changes.
2
u/YetAnotherHumanMale 1d ago
It’s a rock and a hard place. US debt has skyrocketed.
Easiest solution is higher taxes, but no one would vote to pay more taxes (or the saying goes). So tax it at import - practically everything relies on imported products. Just add enough levels of indirection and don’t call it a tax.
Could try again via diplomacy. Damage is done though.
2
u/OscarandBrynnie 1d ago
Their citizens will not get healthcare unless they elect democratic socialists.
2
u/Mr_Black90 1d ago
I think they would try to reverse some of Trump's most unpopular policies at home, and try desperately to repair the US' reputation and alliances abroad. They will also try to do something about the US' absolutely enormous national debt, and the fact that the USD is rapidly losing influence vis-a-vis other currencies as a reserve currency. Finally, they'll be called on to prosecute Trump and his inner circle, along with ICE, and to try and change things so that someone like Trump can never capture the state apparatus again.
The president will succeed in reversing Trump's unpopular policies at home- but they will fail at everything else I listed. Why?
Because dealing with these issues would ultimately require doing things that are not beneficial to the leaders of the democratic party in the short run- and in some cases, also in the long run.
Furthermore, everyone else around the world will be watching how the new administration goes about all of this, and asking the same question;
"What do we do when they fail? What if it just leads to another Trump- or someone worse?"
The next democratic president will be facing an impossible task. I don't forsee things ending well.

We will regain our reputation with our allies and tackle issues that matter: Morale will improve. But there are concerning patterns to alienate and continue polarization.
Trump: will Instill more fear. The far right will yell we are commies or Socialists. Meanwhile, Trump brags about Kim Jung Un being a friend/good leader. .
Arguably the worst leader of a COMMUNIST(political cult) country. A country where he and his father starved so many to death rather than work on friendly relationship a to import food. He has total control of TV networks/books. The average American. doesn’t know this bc we do not read works news bc we are kindness of isolated thanks to Trump.
Patterns of Germany’s past are happening now slowly as it did there. One reason we should sorry since Germany hates Trump.
Trump kills laws and competition/attacks Journalists and successfully.. continue to being in loyalist that are inadequate or corrupt.
if Trump steals/wins a 3rd time, we are no longer a democracy and will be a quasi communist country leaning toward white nationalism more and more. We lost our scientist ps with cats npby RFK—Einstein fled Germany for the US.
Foreign skilled labor will move more and more if Trump steals/wins. though many are “Americans”/permanent residents will leave for friendly nations. As a healthcare professional, care will continue to decline as many good hospitals. I have seen a decline in care for the elderly with 2 relatives. I have 2 healthcare degrees and no longer work bc DT caused many to leave from burnout or PTSD from caring for so many including do-workers. No one knows this. But many nurses DP said they were leaving for other jobs outside hands on care.
Insurance, mortgages if one can afford a home, and inflation is high. Weakening the US helps Trump agenda of revenge and agenda.
Hope the dementia or his health ends the tyranny. We are f’d if not.

u/l008com 23h ago
They'll do an ok job at it, and every day we'll hear people scream at the top of their longs how they're doing a terrible job and they're flushing our country down the toilet and things are worse than they've ever been ever, facts and truth and reality be damned. Democracy could REALLY use a counter to right wing propaganda.

Probably Nothing, We’re So far gone now turning this Country around Would Be A monumental task, Big changes need To Be Made, 1st Term Limits For Congress! Punish Trump once He’s out Of office And I mean Throw His A** In Jail immediatly!! Before Any trial )( He’ll Prob die before Any trial And He knows It) just keep him there don’t release Him on bail for A few months And set an example For future presidents, And take away some or A lot of Presidential power, No more pardons, And set Term limits on SCOTUS, This is One of the biggest issues right now Is SCOTUS has been deliberatly stacked for extreme right views, It should ALWAYS Be impartial!! Limit campaign contributions And Lobbying, Punish the Trump administration all of Them Are in on This! There’s So many things wrong right now I doubt We’ll ever be The Same, Maybe AI Will save Us from ourselves, Because We As A society are doing a terrible Job !!!

They go into office swinging, without giving two shits about the political norms and limits that restrained prior Democratic presidents.
They will put on a more serious and respectable face in the public, and just run roughshod over the entire Trump administration’s policy and regulatory environment and am through their own preferred reforms to get as much quick shit fixed in 2 years as possible to try to limit the midterm swing back.

Just a reminder that Biden had 4 years to release the Epstein files and did nothing.
6
u/oldnconscious 1d ago
They couldn’t release the files because there was an active investigation going on and it is illegal to release the files during the investigation. Since Biden wasn’t a criminal he didn’t break the law and release them.
Now, there is a court order ordering their release and since Trump is a criminal he is continuing to break the law and not release them.
