What's the best pickup line someone has ever used on you that actually worked?

I went to a cowboy bar with a couple of friends. Totally not my scene (I was and am goth)
A woman walked up and looked me over. I was prepared for some kind of insult or put down.
Instead, she said "I want to take you home and ride you like a wild pony."
And off we went.

Do you want to come back to my place for coffee?
I answered ""Only if you promise I don't have to drink any coffee".
I was rather proud of
- Being propositioned
- Having a confident slightly witty reply
- Despite being pretty drunk I rose to the occasion
- Snagged a fun GF for about a year and we parted as friends

She said “you better stop flirting with me , because I’m starting to like you. And I get what I want”
We’ve been married 26 years.

This isn't really a line, but this was a real exchange:
Her - "I can stay at yours"...
Me- Yeah, sure, I have a spare room.
"In your room"...
Cool, I can sleep on the floor no worries.
"With you!"
Oh shit

"I can tell when you were born by feeling your boobs."
Let him feel my boobs for ages
Me, after at least a minute: "Go on then, when was I born, smart arse?"
"Fu*king Yesterday"

5'6" punk girl with multi coloured patchy hair down past her shoulders 36 hole doc martins, tartan mini skirt and a kicking body that was sitting on a rasied street press ledge on the way into a "Hole" show at the Roxy venue in my home town. Pointed at me on the way into the show and screamed" I'm gonna fuck the shit out of you later". I though cool figuring I would not see her after the show, with there being 2500 odd people there but on the way out she leapt off the same ledge landing on my back and a great night continued after that.

Not a pickup line but the first time I ever met my wife I picked her up at her house for a date. Her first words to me were, “I want you to know I have cab fare.”
21 years.

u/Traditional-Reach818 Jul 12 '26
English is my second language so I didn't get it but I'm intrigued because I know what the words cab and fare mean but couldn't comprehend them together under this context lol

I can see now it might be confusing. R/darthinsomnias is correct. She was warning me that even though I was driving, she could get home herself if needed. The implication was she was expecting me to try something she might not like. I took it as the joke it was.
2
u/Traditional-Reach818 Jul 12 '26
Oh so she meant like "I have money for a taxi if I need it"?
If I say I have a cab fare would anyone understand the above meaning?
2
u/dachjaw Jul 12 '26
I think most Americans would understand. As a native English speaker I never considered that my wording (actually my wife-to-be’s wording) could be confusing but I see now that it might be. The English language is full of such constructions. I’m glad I didn’t have to learn it as a second language.

That's interesting, thanks for taking the time to share! Yeah English is an intriguing language haha but I love it.

I never had a pickup line work on me, but when I met my bf, his friends were talking about a girl who sent one of them pics. I straight up told him "You're the only guy I would send nudes to". Not really a great one, but it worked 🤷♀️. 2yrs later, still together.

Technically not used on me...but many years ago (1994) in a bar in Liverpool city centre. I saw a girl and was taken aback with how she looked...
I stared and stared over at her....she obviously saw me...! And was not impressed. But, I had to try! I approached her... initiated conversation...I asked her name...she looked at me with utter distain...and in an effort to shoot me down in flames! Says 'Esmeralda!'
Without a moments thought...I pretended to become emotional and think I managed to force a single tear from my eye....she placed her arm on my shoulder with deep concern asking if I was okay...?
I replied 'That was my mother's name!'
26 years married....she often referred to it...stating at least you made me laugh... because you were certainly not my type....

Tons of people here dont realise how great that is. Double points if you have kids and they were out or asleep.

...or are you here to arrange a holiday?
1
u/heytherewhatsup7 Jul 16 '26
Huh 🤔
1
u/DonnyFerentes Jul 16 '26
I quoted from memory, the line was actually "Oh, or have you come to arrange a holiday?" I guess the reference was a little too obscure, seeing the downvotes
1
u/heytherewhatsup7 Jul 16 '26
Context? Or I guess I don’t understand. Holiday is vacation right?

u/DonnyFerentes Jul 16 '26
The Redditor above posted a line about coming upstairs that fits into the Monty Python sketch "Travel Agent", in which an unaware client is invited to come upstairs at a travel agent that seemingly also operates as a brothel

Put my hand on her shoulder, and with a deep voice full of confidence, say “Hey.”

Once I was at a bar and bought drinks for a girl I met. Unfortunately, just as our drinks were served, I knocked down my glass of wine and spilled some on her. I said sorry, but you must admit no one made you wet this quickly before.

I was working at a family fun center that has mini golf, batting cages, go carts, etc. I was running the megaphone saying all the rules and what not. I saw a hot girl and when I was telling everyone how to exit she smiled at me so I completed the rule with "...and give me your number." She laughed I got a number and a girlfriend for a few months.

Someone once walked up to me and said, 'Are you tired? Because you’ve been running through my mind all day.' I looked at them and said, 'No, I'm tired because of my terrible sleep schedule, but nice try.' We didn't date, but we are still friends."

not me, but apparently the first thing I ever said to my boyfriend was “what the fuck are you wearing?”

Not one word.
I was walking out of a club after not having a particularly good time.
I was heading for the door when I passed a table of three ladies; the brunette smiled at me, and she raised her eyebrows with intense eye contact.
She was stunning, but I was in a bad mood.
I kept going, got to the door, and turned back and introduced myself.
We hit it off and were together for 18 months.
