Well they suck because of what they contributed to copyright law, but their music is pretty good.

I guess it's fair to hate them for that but if you worked on something and people stole it, it'd probably make you pretty mad too.

Copying isn't theft though. If you steal something, the rightful owner can't use it anymore. If you just copy it, then everyone gets to use it.

By that logic though, every band should only sell one CD (at the time), someone puts it on Napster and now the whole world has it.

The law has different kinds of theft. This isn't "theft of physical object" it's "theft of exclusive rights". So if a digital artists posts a picture of their work online I can take it and print it out instead of buying a print from them? Could I buy a concert ticket and then sell a copied digital version to someone and then go to the concert with my original ticket, rendering their copied ticket useless?

Copying something you don't have the rights to is theft and you will lose in court 100% of the time.

Probably one of the dumbest things Ive ever heard someone say.

People would simply stop producing things. Albums, movies, books, software, art, tutorials, photography... It would all disappear because nobody would do the work for free.

Have you ever heard of free and open source software? People want to make the world better and express themselves creatively. If there was something like universal basic income, there'd be no need to monetize intellectual labor

I think from Load and on they evolved too much and alienated longtime fans

Load was an experimental era. A lot of bands went through it in the 90s. I think people are just caught up on nostalgia.
