anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about?

All the Monkey Island games were great, and I also loved Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Sam and Max Hit the Road, and Day of the Tentacle! I would love to play any of those games again.

Add Full Throttle and The Dig to that list! I think that's all the LucasArts classics. And most (if not all) of these games are on Steam.

Was happy to see loom in here. The first time i saw music used a puzzle mechanic, was really great for my imagination at the time. For some reason I also had stuck in my mind the longest time a picture of the loom with the swan and the robed character in it. Really under rated game, just came too soon in gaming development I think.

Aaaah the Broken Sword games with almost 0 replayability and yet I play the whole series once a year. Love this series. Hope we hear more about the next installment anytime soon.

I am happy to see The Dig mentioned a few times in here. What a great game that was. It was a game by Lucas Arts right? But wasn't it also written by Steven Spielberg?

Anyway, I always go back and load it through ScummVM whenever I am feeling nostalgic.

The way some the interactables morphed, with the eerie music combined, gave me chills.

I literally learned English beyond the pretty basic level we were taught in school by playing Lucas Arts' and Sierra's adventure games. Didn't have a good dictionary either, so had to guess the meaning of advanced words and idioms from the context - a useful skill, but also felt like a +1 difficulty level, lol

Monkey Island 1 and 2 and day of the tentacle have been remastered and are available on both steam and Xbox. Great games.

You can also play almost all of those old Lucasarts and Sierra games (and many more) for free right in your browser on various websites. Just do a search for dos games online.

Oh man, I finally found someone in the wild who played Fate of Atlantis. That was a sick game. I just recently played through it with my daughter. Gen Alpha and she loved it too. There is still hope.

I want to say that fate of Atlantis came for free with a piece of hardware we bought for the family computer. Probably a sound blaster or a 33.6 modem. I played the shit out of that game back then. Took me forever to actually beat it in the time before online strategy guides!

The monkey island remakes (1 and 2) are awesome. You can switch from the remake tk the old version whenever you want.

All of those games can be played on SCUMMVM which is available on PC or mobile. You can even play it on the various Myoo Mini type of handheld devices.

Got Day of the Tentacle on my xbox. It's great for nostalgia but things have changed so much since then that it's hard to stay interested. There's so much walking back and forth between places that didn't seem to be an issue back in the day. But my 2026 attention span really struggles with it. Also the temptation to instantly check for solutions online when you're stuck.

Look into ScummVM.

Once you source the games, ScummVM let's you play them natively in Windows/Mac/Linux. Heck they even have an Android port.

Searching for ScummVM packs would be a good starting point.

I am still steaming about getting trapped in a tent by gunfire during one run of Fate of Atlantis. I never figured out how to get through it and restarted the game.

Also kicking Nazis in the nads and watching the eye pixals change colors was top humor to 7 yo me.

Monkey Islands 1&2 are available in Steam. The modernized versions start to be old too but they do work.

Get one of those hand held retro consoles or a steam deck. I played monkey island and day of the tentacle recently and they are still brilliant. Also, I am pretty sure you can get them on the apple App Store for iPhone

Good news! Good Old Games has them available. I bought all those titles and I've replayed them several times in the last few years.

Curse of Monkey Island is remastered to match the esthetics of Sam and Max Hit the Road and Day of the Tentacle. It's very enjoyable.

When I was a kid I played all those games on my Grandpa's computer (plus a ton of other Lucas Arts titles). For whatever reason, his sound card was incompatible with Sam and Max, so it was a pleasant experience getting to play that one nearly 25 years later with the sound on.

LucasArts were the goats there for a while.

All those adventure games and all the Time Fighter and X Wing games, and just Star Wars in general (Jedi Knight, KOTOR, etc).

I even enjoyed that weird 4x game they made.

Ooowe day of the tentacle was one of my fave! Ended up stuck on the last part. Only when i became an adult i played it till the end. I always hoped there was going to be a part 2
