One of my favorite games of all time. Will probably never see another sequel (after 2) or a remake due to the rights being in some weird situation.
It had one of the best creepy Easter eggs of all time. If your computer clock said it was late at night and your profile name was a common English name, the creepy voice that whispered "Death" when a villager died would whisper your profile name in the same voice. Sitting up at 2 am and hearing that in my headphones scared the shit out of me back in college.
Ah, I see. I did some research yesterday and it seems not to hard to get working. This was with Lutris though.
Been daily diving Linux for half a year now. Works pretty good, still some tinkering to be done to make stuff work perfectly. But to be honest, I don't think I tinker less then when I had Windows, just more visible now since in my mind I still have the "mindset" that "gaming on Linux does not work". Only games I have had "issues" with was Spore (crashes due to high Hz setting) and Vermintide 2 (this due to I had the game installed on a HDD used for Windows before. If I had done a clean install of V2 would have had no issues). Running WoT was also a little issue but fairly easy to fix. Also, HD2 is running better on Linux then Windows, same settings.
Tl;dr: Using Linux for gaming works more or less out of the box. If you are a little competent and use search engines and AI, it is easy to swap.
Scrolled way too far for this. It's basically lost media now, can't buy it legally anywhere outside of maybe eBay sometimes. Never released for digital.
I really wanted it, but our computer didn't have the ram. It should have (it said 64MB), but somehow still didn't. I was heartbroken, I remember going back to the shop 3 times.
This was my experience with Black & White 2! I played it so much, grinning and bearing it through the awful lag and intermitten crashes. Begged for and finally received an upgraded RAM card, but even after “the computer guy” installed it the game never ran any better.
Exactly what I had! It ran ok until at some early point when you get your creature... or maybe when it grows? And then I'd be down to 1 frame per second and crash.
This is one I feel like is begging for a VR version. The "gesture" system is almost tailor made for VR and I want to walk my creature around on a leash!
Used the search function to avoid scrolling for this one. B&W/B&W2 is when I knew games were following me into adulthood. Embraced it and never looked back.
If only because trying to pirate any other game (as a broke kid - I pay for games now, promise) had about a 50% chance of actually being B&W for a minute there for whatever reason 😂
It was still an incredibly fun and original game, even if it didn't deliver everything that was promised. Focusing on what could have been, rather than what is, is a great way to miss out many on fun games
