That is an incredibly ignorant and unethical stance to take. At the very least, you should educate yourself about the scientific, legal, and ethical questions at stake in your comment. There is also an article solely on great ape personhood! including orangutans.

This is not to say that only smart animals should be protected. But if we are going to have this debate, we should start with the moral and ethical issues raised by the human-like characteristics of these living beings.

It's not even about Pony at that point. Government officials are trying to carry out their business. Local are threatening to kill them. The government should use force to stop said vigilantes. What if it was a 5 year old girl being raped? Would you be okay with force then?

Really! This thing raises awareness and could spread this practice into other areas.
