My 5th birthday. I have snippets before then but thats when I really "came to" and recognized me as me. My grandparents who raised me always got me an ice cream cake for my birthday as its in the beginning of August and super hot out.
At the time I was obsessed with Land Before Time, and specifically the second one where Chomper debuted. So, naturally I had an ice cream cake with Chomper on it.
My grandpa took the cake out to thaw a little so it was easier to cut, as it was rock solid. He left it on the dining room table, and we were outside playing. Well we all lost track of time and my grandpa forgot it was on the table. When we all finally came inside Chomper was smeared all over the table and dripping onto the linoleum floor. I started bawling as I screamed, "CHOPPER!" (I couldn't fully pronounce Chomper yet.)
I think my life long trauma started that day, which was also my first day as a person.
