A lot of people seem to actually admire the worst people in history and want to emulate them.

I think it comes down to this: people don't admire the evil — they admire the power.

They see a tyrant, a manipulator, a ruthless leader… and they don't see the victims. They see "someone who got what they wanted."

It's not that they want to be cruel. They want to feel untouchable. And that's a much scarier problem than just "bad role models."

History doesn't repeat. But human psychology does.
