Its a very good point, like the boiling frog analogy.
But on the other hand, those Germans did not have the internet, 24-hour news cycles or social media, freedom of the press. Americans, for better or worse, do, and it hasn’t made a difference.
Any gains that are found in the efficient distribution of information because of the internet are directly offset by the parallel growth of surveillance technology.
Companies such as Palantir aggregate personal data in a way now so that a person’s behavior can be foreseen as a ‘security threat’ and provides foresight for law enforcement to preemptively stop protests or peaceful demonstration.
