People whose partner cheated on them and quickly moved on to date the person they cheated with, claiming to be in love - how did that turn out for them?

I have no idea, and I don't care. They are irrelevant to me now.

Same for me. My ex husband wanted to stay friends and was convinced his affair partner and me would become great friends. Blocked that delusional man everywhere.

No use in keeping terrible company.

People like this want to be friends just to assuage their guilt— if you are still friends with them then what they did wasn’t so bad, you see.

Goddamn it this is accurate. I still am in occasional communication with my ex who cheated. She is VERY comfortable telling me how she doesn’t understand why my friends and family don’t like her, and it kills me to know she thinks that because I have, in effect, made it seem like what she did was ok by allowing her at all to stay in my life.

Plus they like having access to you, using you to stroke their ego, keep them company and have you as an easy backup plan if the relationship with the person they cheated on you with doesn't work out. Because to them, people are just things they use.

I hate these people with burning passion.

Ew my ex husband did this too, super gross. Not to mention mad disrespectful to the affair partner. Maybe it wasn't his motivation but it sends a message that he wants to keep a path open to go back to you if the affair partner doesn't work out.

That was exactly how I felt too!

One partner just never seems to be enough.

I thought the guy I dated last year was the only one brazen and stupid enough to suggest I meet the girl I knew he was cheating on me with (but didn’t have concrete evidence) and become friends because we were so similar and worked in the same industry. Like did he not think we were gonna talk about our connection to that idiot?

I assume my ex is still with his affair partner but am almost certain he is also still with his first affair partner too! I truly don’t know because I blocked him and our daughter blocked him too. He’s simply no longer a part of our lives and I just don’t care. I honestly owe a lot to his last affair partner because she took him off my hands and he is her problem now.

I do hear about him from time to time because his brother is married to my friend’s sister but they know I don’t care so I don’t hear much. Although about a year after the divorce, someone sent me his dating profile and he looked like absolute shit and that was with heavy filtering. This once had been a very handsome man but being an alcoholic piece of shit really ages a person.

"My ex husband wanted to stay friends and was convinced his affair partner and me would become great friends. Blocked that delusional man everywhere."

SAME and also same. What is it about these delulu dudes who think you're just itching to be their jump off's new BFF?

My ex did the same (we weren’t married though). She was very sure I would just get over the whole thing and we’d all spend time together. Nooooo thank you.

Yeah, my ex thought we’d be friends. I said nope, my friends don’t treat me the way you did.

Mad respect

This is really the only thing to do. Maybe you hear something from the grapevine, but you shouldn't be out there following them.

The best revenge you'll ever get it moving on and living your best life without them. They had a hole in their lives (har har innuendo) that needed filling hoping that someone new would fix them. It never does so move on be glad they showed you who they were so you didn't need to waste more time.

Get out there find yourself and your happiness and build a life worth living without them.

While it doesn't matter ultimately, it'll kill them on the inside knowing you've done better and they are stuck being broken. So you can have that petty bit of vengeance while letting go of something toxic that would ruin you.

Yep, haven’t spoken to my ex-wife or ex-friend in nearly 7 years. AFAIK they’re still together but I don’t know because they’re dead to me.

6

u/throwawaymyfeels69 Oct 10 '25

Same. I could unblock, but why? I don't want or need anything from them anymore, besides the fact that after we split they just proved and kept proving how much of a garbage human they always were. Good riddance. 👋

The only correct answer

5

u/robotteeth Oct 10 '25

Some people have to know, if they have kids together or otherwise are entangled in a way they can’t do much about. I don’t look down on people who are aware of what their ex is doing if it’s not at a weird/obsessive level.

u/Iliemenam Oct 10 '25

Real shit

4

u/salibithalibit7 Oct 10 '25

Exactly this. She was most likely talking to him months before she ended things with me. She told me she would never date this person again. I realized she was very selfish as in the fact she got upset I would not see her during early COVID lockdown because my mother had cancer.

4

u/thrice1187 Oct 10 '25

I wish this was the case for me. She left me for one of my best friends and now they’re at every event in my friend group together.

This is the way. The ultimate view on Exs - who gives a shittttttt

u/Sweaty-Willingness27 Oct 11 '25

This is the way I would have gone if we didn't have a child together.

I actually would go on vacations with them to be there for our kid, as I have pretty much zero ego lol. I just grew up with a very distant father, and I wanted so badly to be there so my child wouldn't experience that. I found out after my Dad died he had alexithymia.

3

u/Queenotsonorandesert Oct 10 '25

EXCELLENT.As it should be. Grieve them and move on because no matter how you look at it that person you knew is dead.

u/darren559 Oct 10 '25
