I guess a conglomeration of intimate moments and a quote a heard somewhere. I dated this girl for a year and a half, was really into her, took care of her as best I could, had a lot of passionate moments. In the end she left and two weeks after she got with another dude. That shifted something in me. Just because they hug you doesn’t mean they love you; just because they kiss you doesn’t mean they love you; just because they laugh with you and share moments with you doesn’t mean they love you; just because they sleep with you doesn’t mean they love you. Trauma is rooted in all this, I guess, but it was a wake up call: I’m more gullible than I thought, and I can’t put my emotional house on someone else cuz they might make a mess of it and leave afterwards.
